Hamas used their humanitarian donations for terror. Published and admitted by Hamas directly.
The most popular leaders of the Palestinians are Hamas, an internationally recognized terrorist organization.
The most “Moderate” leaders are holocaust denying, terror funding dictators who stole millions of donation money to themselves.
Recognize who exactly?
What is the general attitude of Japanese people about Israel and Palestine? Do they care?
I’ll raise a shot of sake for that
Japan is the most sane country on earth rn..
Nor should they until Hamas is eradicated and a functioning democracy is in its place

Smart Japan
Why would they? this isn’t a burning issue in Japan and Japanese politics I reckon
Japan doesn’t even recognize it’s own war crimes
I wouldn’t consider their opinioni on the matter
In order to become a State you need to be able to control your people.
Japan doesn’t do anything without checking with Washington first
Was there anyone who thought a liberal Democratic Party government was going to do anything else then this?
After Oct 7th, neither do I.
Somewhere a leftist is yelling, “You intolerant Japanese!”
Understandable
A state governed by another terrorist? Lol even their education system is all about being a “martyr” for their propaganda and to kill infidels.
The Palestinians as a group are they most well funded, non-state group in the world, hands down. They have been and will remain a proxy for the chunk of the middle east that wants to end Israel.
Until real leaders take the reigns of whatever they have, and seek a progress forward that isn’t at gun point, there will be no Palestine.
According to Palestinians themselves, they can’t control their 2006 elected leaders. So who could justify calling it a “state?”,
So many comments exposing they didnt read the article
> Responding to a question from Arab News Japan on recognizing Palestine as a state, Japanese Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko responded: “With regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Japan has consistently supported the ‘two-state solution’ and the right of self-determination, including the right to establish an independent Palestinian state.” But Kamikawa indicated that Japan is playing a waiting game regarding any change in policy.
> “With regard to recognizing Palestine, it is basically based on how the peace process will develop,” she said on Friday. “We want to give consideration from a comprehensive viewpoint.”
Well they won’t recognise themselves as a state. Killing ppl is much more important than that
Well, fuck Japan I guess
That’s it, I’m boycotting sushi and selling my Corolla.
Good because it is not a real nation and it never has been.
“Siding with the United States and Western Europe, Japan has no plans at present to recognize a Palestinian state and will wait to see what happens on the ground and with the peace process before deciding on the matter.”
This of course is a poorly worded illogical lede. There is no “Palestinian state” at this time so there is nothing to recognize.
The revelations today in the New York Times that Israel’s leadership was aware of Hamas’ plans to attack Israel for over a year do not bode well for Netanyahu. His support of illegal West Bank settlements in exchange for political support from orthodox ultra-extremists to stay in power was obvious. Now he has to explain to the rest of Israelis why he ignored their biggest threat in decades. It will also lead the west to temper their support with limitations on their use. Arabs have made it clear they want economic ties with Israel. They will also be the ones most likely to pay for rebuilding Gaza after the war ends.
Israel will need to provide a secure homeland within Israel for Palestinians or end its status as a Jewish state. That is when Japan and the rest of the world will recognize Palestine. Not sooner.
People on reddit have difficulty to distinct between people living in Palestine and Hamas that governs a part of Palestine.
I agree that Hamas doesn’t deserve the right to a state, but its citizens surely do.
Even more: I think recognizing Palestinians deserve a proper free state is the only solution to structural peace (and the demise of Hamas).
The Palestinian leadership has failed to show that they can follow international law, so they are going to have a hard time getting recognition either way.
