Why are younger voters flocking to the far right in parts of Europe?

  1. Maybe because they are scared about the ongoing demographic change.

  2. I swear I’ve seen this exact article every month for the past decade. It’s always written by a pencil neck nonce with soft pink hands who is dumbfounded why would working class voters oppose unlimited migration.

  3. Immigration is the number 1 issue for a hell of a lot of people. If everyone else ignores it they’ll flock to those that address it.

  4. Because the youngest see no future for themselves.

You can’t steal their families wealth, creates systems that shut them out of help, give away their housing and job options to foreign people and then expect them to do anything but vote for those who say they are fighting for them.

Whether the politicians are really for them, or lying is another matter. But false hope is still hope.

  5. It’s unchecked immigration creating a tragedy of the masses with respect to higher costs of living and lower wages that young people are most effected by.

  6. Just like the Greens always say, because it’s about our future 😉

  7. Gee I wonder why guys? What could explain this phenomenon? Color me once again, suprised.

  8. You are handing over the future of the young to migrants from the Middle East

  9. Because younger people see, talk, and interact with immigrant-background people at school/work/social media more than older people do and are the most familiar with them

The whole “oh you just fear/hate them all because you don’t actually know any in real life! If you got to know them you’d know how great they are!” schtick doesn’t work

Also for a lot of young people, social liberalism/progressivism isn’t seen as “rebellious” or “against the system” anymore like it was in the 1990s but something that’s been co-opted by political and economic elites in the past 20 years or so (doesn’t matter whether or not those elites actually believe in it)

  10. Straight white males who are getting demonised by left wing parties.

  11. Because the conservative parties are not conservative anymore and the left hates Europeans

  12. Young people are very socially liberal but the reason why right so far parties are gaining ground is because of mass immigration

Young people are affected the most by housing shortages, education spots, wage depression and so on

    >In the Netherlands, the PVV surged to become the largest party among 18- to 34-year-olds, winning 17% of their vote against 7% previously

So the point still stands that in germanic countries old people are more likely to vote right wing than left wing

    PVV got 23.5% on average

  13. They are flocking because these are “the hard times”.

There are clear ebs and flows in western society. When times are good, the west is incredibly progressive and liberal. When times a bad, we get nationalist and authoritarian. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles.

These hard times are an amagamation of issues, largely stemming from poor credit, poor demographics, and enflamed social issues like immigration.

  14. Take poland for example. A country know for have very strict migration rules. They have kept economic growth where all the more immigrant friendly countries have lost it.

Im not taking a side just stating facts

  15. Around 15 years ago, one of my cousins, a Romanian teenager at that time living in Austria with her family, was told by her Muslim colleagues in school that they will become majority and will take their country. And these were people her age. This is what they have been taught in their families.

  16. Because the left either pretends that many problems do not exist at all or pretends that they are a net benefit.

  17. Doesn’t help that younger generation has felt financial marginalization and struggling in terms of living costs but more importantly wage increases.

  18. Imo young people recognise there is an air mutual status quo and stagnation with the traditional 2 parties who have just taken turns to be in charge with no real difference for them.

Now this time round there’s a lot at stake when it comes to global recession, mass immigration, and no real prospects or prosperity for the younger generations, and sometimes they just want a different party to vote for, particularly since the usual parties in charge haven’t cut it.

It doesn’t help either that when money is tight there is alway a swing to the right either. Sadly it’s a perfect storm for the right to sneak back into power, and the next gen are angry.

  19. when i lived in france it was pretty hard not to notice that an uncomfortably high amount of the MENA population acted very insular and even hostile, with blatant resentment toward the french republic and culture, even spitting at white people openly. i think right wing policies are boneheaded, especially economic and environmental ones, but i have sympathy for the french who actually support the cultural and political values of france and are upset that so many people openly deride them, especially when france contributes more to social welfare as a percentage of its GDP than any other country on earth. the whole thing is crazy, and then people on twitter say it’s frances fault for failing to integrate MENA peoples correctly. i think you can only pretend like there isn’t a fundamental cultural problem to keep up politically correct appearances for so long

  20. It’s insane it took this long.

Anyone remembers a r**e night in Germany on new years a few years back?

I was so horrified and disgusted to learn about it. How can Europe turn a blind eye and continue importing dangerous people in mass.

  21. How am I far right when I have the same morals and values my grandpa had and my ancestors before him. Some Europeans have gone so far left they think Eastern Europe somehow “became” conservative. No, we remained the same and still have traditional classic European values.

The left wing ideology doesn’t offer to me as a young man anything. And no, having better social benefits doesn’t make something leftist or conservative, so we can have a conservative government who provides them.

  22. Being opposed to mass immigration and open borders is not ‘far right’ we simply want the same immigration policies as other democracies such as Australia and Japan. The housing problem will not be resolved until this underlying issue is solved.

  23. Because they don’t want to be flooded with muslim/african migrants that don’t assimilate, treat women as second class citizens and commit violent crimes (gang rapes on young girls in particular). Because deep inside they feel more association with their country/homeland than the European Union.

  24. Stop calling any right movement “far right”, you’re part of the problem, stop distorting such powerful words such as far right because what we’re seeing in Europe is way far of a true far right movement

  25. Consider that the youth has attended to the same schools as immigrants. Maybe they know a thing or two about those future doctors and engineers.

  26. If this was posted few years before, comments on r/europe would’ve been completely opposite.

Crazy how thing have changed in a short period of time.

  27. Because they can’t understand the meaning of a simple text.

  28. No they’re not.

And any young person doing so hasn’t ever voted once in their Lives and their they’re really unlikely to ever.

    Now ask why.

  29. No places to live, no living wages, something has to change, they are tired

  30. cause they are brainwashed by social media and meme sites. the new life goal is to be a jew hater millioner and swear at ibm live.

  31. The hard truth is that most people own their home and dont want house prices to fall. People in government own their own homes too and are landlords too sometimes, so why would they want house prices to fall? The way to make that happen is to build more homes. Which would also cause rent to fall.

So basically these factors are causing the uneducated to blame the poorest people instead of the true villians in this story….those in power who are doing very little about housing.

Next is being tolerant of the intolerant. Which is hard to police before someone enters the country…all they have to do is lie and say they don’t believe they have the right control women because of their beliefs or say they don’t want to force their beliefs on others etc etc. But for some reason when they cause violent protests over a book which is ridiculous and childish…we have to accept it and not kick them for being violent…over a book?

Something needs to be done, governments aren’t doing anything so they listen to the people who want to be hard on immigrants because it’s easy to blame them. Then all that needs to happen is an immigrant commits a crime and reconfirms the bias held.

We need homes built and we need to be harder on the intolerant….this is our country you need to respect our laws and way of life here….just as we have to follow the rules and laws in every other country in the world.

  32. People tired of getting shot and stabbed for drawing a cartoon of a pedophile prophet?

  33. I mean wasn’t a teacher from France beheaded by a group of immigrant teenagers recently? These events won’t make Europeans more welcoming, no matter how hard you try to discuss it.

My Grandma who lives in Hamburg is scared to leave the house after dark. This is something that her Mother – My Great-Grandma didn’t know when she was old.

  34. It’s the new counter culture. Every school, university, corporation, media outlet, news station you name it, except for a few, are left wing.

  35. Because mainstream parties aren’t addressed the wishes of the electorate. It’s really not that complicated, as can be seen in countries where mainstream parties are doing what people want.

  36. Mass immigration of people from totally different cultures that do not mix well at all with western culture. Older people love importing these people though, because they can just buy a house in an expensive neighborhood far away from all the issues mass immigration have caused. Then they can all sit on their high horses and call people racist for not liking the state of things.

  37. Because immigrants from MENA countries are stabbing, raping and robbing people. They refuse to integrate to the European countries and cultures they are in. They are criminals, and young people are sick of them.

    That’s why. Literally just this.

There is no far-right ideology. If there is, I’d like to have the far-right ideology of ***not having immigrants stabbing, raping and robbing people***
