One word is true, the other three are the biggest lie ever repeatedly told.

  1. Fruit Pastilles are like that too.

I’m sure someone more careful could open the bag in the precise way the manufacturer intends, such that the contents *are* resealable after the first use.

    But I’m not that someone.

  2. I’m yet to have a bag of pasta or rice like this where the sticker sticks the bag down. Am I doing something wrong? Someone please tell me that I am.

  3. That’s because it _is_ easy to open.

Opening it without ending up with a metric fuckton of basmati rice all over your kitchen counter? Now, _that’s_ the hard part.

  4. I can help you with the “easy open” part! Managed it for the first time this week.

Peel away the sticker like you have in the pic, and unroll the top so it’s pointing up, then pull one of the narrow sides of the bag (so *not* the front & back) outward and it will start opening, then you can pull open the rest of the way, or just leave a small opening to pour out from.

As for the resealable part, I just cut a length of duct tape and stick that bitch down 😀

  5. A little square of gaffa/duct tape works great. Sticks properly under tension so you can get a good seal on the folded bag, and can be taken off and resealed repeatedly while remaining sticky.

I’m not sure why they don’t use the same adhesive as gaffa tape (food safety I guess but it’s on the outside of the bag, so as long as you don’t do anything stupid with it, I can’t see it being a problem).

  6. remove seal, use scissors to open cleanly, use tab to reseal

  7. It’s right up there with “Peel here” on a bacon packet.

  8. You ever had a packet of bacon open correctly? Doesn’t matter what shop I’ve got it from, the little tab rips straight off and you end up using a knife to cut the plastic open.
