  1. It looks like OP posted an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot).

  2. Thats the best ‘homes under the hammer’ episode by far.

  3. Good. Maybe all the people deliberately keeping homes empty during a housing crisis might take note.

  4. Good. Something needs to be done about homes lying empty during a housing crisis.

  5. I mean the guy is obviously a cunt and the law had changed to make this stuff harder but who the fuck leaves their house for TEN YEARS with a stranger in there & doesn’t get it sorted out?!!

  6. The house was empty and falling derilict for twenty years and this bloke has lived in it for nearly a decade. Fair play to him.

  7. Summary:

Man and his mother moved out in the 90’s. Squatter moved into it in 2012 with his family and fixed it up and renovated it. Applied in 2014 for adverse possession and won after an appeal. Now has sold it.

Honestly if someone had left a house abandoned for more than 10 years it’s an absolute waste when so many people need housing.

  8. Squatting homes left empty for no reason is a long and noble tradition.

  9. So that chap lived in the house for 10 years before any attempt was made to get him out? At no point did the owner think that maybe he should do something about this?

Can’t fault the squatter tbf. Saw an opportunity and took it.

  10. Honestly, I’m on the side of the squatter here. The house had been empty and derelict since the 90s. There’s no reason just to leave it empty for that long. I’d much prefer it get use than just sit there
