Hi everyone!
We are getting a puppy soon, and we are doing research about how to properly transport our dog in the car. While reviewing the road traffic law, it just says that the dog has to be kept safe as any other cargo, and also preserving the life of the animal of course.
We know that there are a lot of these cages where people carry their dogs in where the dog is transported, but we feel that the dog will be isolated on the back and also we dont believe these cages will protect the life of our dog in case of an accident (we might be wrong though).
We are thinking instead on a solution where we can place a harness [more specialized for cars](https://www.galaxus.ch/en/s15/product/ezydog-drive-dog-car-harness-collar-34360610?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&campaignid=20457517654&adgroupid=&adid=&dgCidg=Cj0KCQiAyKurBhD5ARIsALamXaE0lgrE6ChuWx1mUSaviio9HexY5PqzOKZX05-Ehg6At1cc9PFX2iEaAgZ7EALw_wcB&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAyKurBhD5ARIsALamXaE0lgrE6ChuWx1mUSaviio9HexY5PqzOKZX05-Ehg6At1cc9PFX2iEaAgZ7EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) and secure him with the car seatbelt. Also probably we would need something for underneath the dog to protect the car seat and to make ti comfortable for him too. We are going to carry him most of the times on the side of the back seat beside our son.
I was wondering if anyone can share their experiences with different products and recommendations. Thanks a lot!

Harness is great, on top of that look at Doggyfix car seats if you don’t wanna use a crate in the trunk.
They attach to Iso fix and don’t slide at all so the dog is really comfortable in them. Of course they still should be buckled up with a harness like the one you linked.

It‘s an Austrian company and they deliver to Switzerland.
We bought the 4pets caree cage. It fits the backseat and you secure it with the seatbelt or isofix (sold separately). Our dog loves it since it’s super comfortable, secure and has tons of space.

It’s been proven that a metal crate is the safest place for a dog. :- )

And if you train it properly, the dog should feel comfortable in the crate and of course they can hear you, so it’s not that isolating.
If you do choose to use a harness, definitely find one that fits well and find a solid attachment point without too much extra movement room (of course enough to adjust position, but any extra slack now means more motion and then a more abrupt stop in case of a crash which can lead to injury). It’s still a good choice if you choose not to crate.
