As climate chaos accelerates, which countries are polluting the most?

  1. Per capital the US is largest polluter on the planet and has been since WW2. China only recently leads world in total CO2 output. The chart is very misleading.

  2. What’s up with the leader of the free world?

BTW, this chart should be per-capita to make most impact.
Edit: Oh, I had to scroll the thing

  3. The fact that the projections don’t have steep downwards trends shows just how fucked we really are. The only way to properly deal with climate change today is negative emissions. According to somthing like [this](https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/anti.12532) we need to pull out atleast 400 GT of co2 out of the atmosphere to keep warming under 2 degrees. According to [this](https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/anti.12532) we currently produce about 40 GT of emissions a year still and carbon capture today can capture about 0.1% of that being 0.04 GT a YEAR.

There has to be a significant huge ramping up up of carbon capture which the crux is where are we going to get the resources and energy? Which produce their own co2 emissions.

Or we need to stop only relying on technology to maintain business as usual and break our modern cycle of consumerism and 5+ days a week working. We need to chill the fuck out in industries not realated to climate change mitigation but that’s not what makes that $$$ and easing back on business as usual doesn’t maintain that power and the illusion of stability. Doing this with carbon capture ramping up is the best choice. Not carbon capture without this. Other wise it’s a pipe dream in reality.

TLDR/conclusion: we are really fucked in terms of maintaining conditions humans have enjoyed since our species inception. Why it’s not mainstream news and arguable they hum the opposite and optimism? It’s because if the average joe knew that what’s the point of going to work and participating in society? You aren’t told to maintain power over you and stability within society. But what is that really worth if we are robbed of a future by trying to maintain the illusion of stability.

  4. reddit is either entirely littered with chinese bots or people are genuinely convinced that poor people in the western world are the issue and not wal-mart, amazon, etc. lmao. china has been happily exploiting lower-class westerners with the assistance of those companies. this idea we have access to actual goods/products is similar to the ol’ north-korean store fronts. Not china’s fault? sure, but they sure were happy to get that exploitation money and use it to commit genocide on their islamic pop and psy-ops the US/EU.
