Good Evening,
So today, I (16M) and my familly went to Leukerbad therme, and we payed for entery with sauna included and the desk lady muttered something about children must be accompanied for the sauna.

After a bit of bathing, we went to check the sauna, and were shocked to see a small sign saying it was for naked people only.
(at the price sign there was 2 vagues pictogram than could easely be interpreted as no bikini and no boxer (as its common interdictions in pools))

We even left my little brothers and went to check, inside, some people were wearing laundry and the rest were definitely not clothed.

When we left we even asked for a repayment of the extra we payed, and desk lady said she told us, even though not of my 6 family member noticed.

The most shocking is that 8yo (and maybe less, since under 8 is free and not indicated ) (one of my little brother was as little as that and it’s not like we were really warned),
may be subject to be seen naked and see naked people themself, and the staff at the desk did not even seam shocked.
Its so deranged it sounds unreal even to myself.
And it’s not even a small lost establishment, it’s moderately famous.

  1. > be subject to be seen naked and see naked people themself

Yeah… and? Check out FKK or public baths in a lot of other countries. It’s not that rare.

  2. Sorry, but I’m very confused by why you think this is so shocking. In Switzerland and many other places there is not the same culture of shame of the naked body as there is elsewhere, thankfully.

  3. Nudity in saunas is not an unusual thing. This is not a place with a sexual context, and naked people of all ages are not out of place or shocking. I suppose they should probably give you some refund on sauna fees if you didn’t use it, but really it isn’t something anyone here would be shocked to encounter. If I went to a hotel with a sauna, I would expect it would be full of naked people. I guess that is cultural differences for you.

  4. uhm inform yourself ?
No one to blame but yourself

sauna is always a clothless thing to do…

  5. Welcome to the German speaking part of the world.

This is assumed to be the default for Saunas in German speaking places. Nakedness is not seen as shameful or sexual in this context. It is unclear why your brother would be ‘at risk’ from seeing naked people.
If you are not comfortable with being naked, it is your choice not to participate.

  6. Sind wir jetzt so prüde oder können uns keine Handtücher mehr leisten?

  7. And? Whats the problem?
We dont have these problems with nudity like the americans, you have to accept this difference in culture.

  8. Yes, as clearly stated the sauna is a naked area and kids can go there as well.

I don’t see the problem, unless someone forces you to go, you don’t need to.

As for your concern about young children, they naturally don’t sexualized nakedness.

  9. I don’t see a problem here. Are you a foreigner? Because that is normal here.

  10. Who cares? What’s the problem? Don’t be so ignorant and closed minded

  11. Mate are you perchance american? We here in the civilised world make a difference between seual nudity and just nudity. It‘s filthy to into a sauna wearing clothes, we just take a towel.

  12. Yes, better to buy guns at the age of 8. Violence is less bad than nudity.

  13. Tell me you’re American without telling me you’re American
