I went on holiday around Central Asia a few months ago. I met some guys from Yakutsk, in Siberia.
They told me the kids are allowed off school only if it’s below -60c. They laughed in my face when I said -10c would cause the UK to collapse as a nation.
I feel like it does actually snow quite often here and we use the excuse of “we’re never prepared for it!” as a reason to not prepare
I understand how this could’ve happened in Texas when they had the freeze, but in England? Really?
Currently up near rural Grizedale in Cumbria. The roads were fine this morning although it was below freezing last night. It started snowing around 10 am and currently there is at least 150mm (6 inch) of snow. The road outside is salted most evenings around 5-6 pm.
By three o’clock this afternoon there were twenty to thirty cars and vans parked up outside because the access both ways were blocked but I assume it has cleared since they have now gone. I think it was the sudden deep snowfall that caused the problems rather than ice.
BBC News said my area was going to be -7 last night so I took precautions. The lowest it got was 0, I was awake most of the night due to insomnia and kept checking. Scaremongering crap.
Global warming yeah?
Climate change is much more accurate of a term, reflecting the more extreme swings in weather in all seasons.
I’m still waiting on this snow we’ve been promised. Nothing. Nada.
The Mirror seems to have a hissy fit about the weather every fortnight.
Energy companies rubbing their hands tonight. Another record quarter of fucking over the population in excessive greed and profits to come watch this, im looking forward to being screwed over again.
