Maybe next time they will think twice before going on a murder spree…
The rub being that the buffer will be inside Gaza, probably 500-3000 meters wide.
This is how things are regressing for Palestinian freedoms for a couple of decades (because I’m too lazy to write a detailed list) –
They had an airport until 2001 – the 2nd intifada.
The blockade started (by both Israel and Egypt) after Gazans elected Hamas (in 2005) which started launching 10000 rockets.
Is there a way to force a new election in Gaza, UN mediated, to give Palestinians a chance to vote Hamas out, or is it impossible at this point due to how entrenched Hamas is?
At this point why is there not a consideration for an international peace keeping force to separate these two sides? A solid demilitarized zone and a caretaker administration to ensure no incursions into either Gaza/West Bank or into Israel by any one?
So this is a land grab?
Well if it was acceptable to move millions of ethnic Germans from eastern Germany…..
Worked out well for North Korea
Palestine starts invasion war and lose territory as a result of losing the war they started*
The rest of the world: Why would Israel do this?
Why not have the buffer zone on the Israeli side?
This is why Israel needs to go the other way with it’s politics. The solution here is not to harm and further squeeze Palestine, it is to rebuild it, do everything it can to foster good will (once Hamas has been eradicated), and give every chance to Gazans to have successful and happy lives.
I want to know the logic that makes Israel legitmate. Point to somehwere in the world right now where it is acceptable to move almost a million people from their land against their wishes to form a new country? On the authority of a foreign body no less. Does being good and just only apply when they have a fully fleshed out government? It was ok for the US to ethnicly cleanse the Native Americans then? That is what you are saying by letting Israel take palestine and erasing the history of the people that lived there. If that is what you believe, then no matter how advanced your civilization is you are the animal.
Good, fuck hamas.
Why don’t they make their own buffer zone inside israel?
Sounds like a fence dispute. Someone should really pay for a survey.
For more illegal settlements
Seems a reasonable request, and if I were Palestinian, I’d be all for it. Something to end all this bullchit? Yes, please.
Seems a reasonable request, doesn’t it?
I wonder if it has something to do with 8000 rockets or fired it Israel over the last several decades?
Sure. It can be on the Israeli side of the border.
Radical Islam is just the worst kinda ideology
Wise.
Because concentrating the Palestinian people into even less space will certainly help aid their resentment against Israel and reduce their support for radical groups that like to present Israel as an oppressive colonial force.
Remember, Gaza is already tiny for a place where 2 million people live. It’s about 365 kilometers squared.
This buffer zone, if we assume an average of 1000 meters width (with the proposed length ranging between 500 and 3000 meters) could reduce the area by another 40 kilometers squared that’s more than 10%.

That buffer zone is going to do fuck all for the safety of Israeli citizens, but it is going to contribute to the constant tensions and pressure and hostilities that keep right wing extremists popular over in Israel and islamic terrorists popular over in Gaza and the West Bank. Make no mistake, the only ones benefitting from such a zone are Hamas on one hand and Likud and their extremist associates on the other.
