  1. >Culture minister Sir John Whittingdale said the powers would be “focused” on benefit claimants

Is that supposed to be any better? Fuck me. Our government doesn’t need to continue to expand its powers.

  2. Are they going to pass a bill to treat tax evasion the same way? Have carte blanche to go through the bank accounts of businesses and the super-rich en masse without any reason too, just in case?

  3. What is it about the Tory party that they want to sneakily spy on all aspects of your life? They truly are creepy cretins.

  4. A few more people might now find out that ‘If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.’ is not as true as it sounds. Privacy is being eroded more and more, something many pensioners allowed to happen by supporting those initial breaches into privacy that did not affect them directly. This is what it can lead to though: we gave the government an inch and they are taking a mile, all under the guise of only targeting those deemed undesirable by them.

  5. Why are (or the government) so obsessed with attempts to track benefit claimants and fraud when it’s has such a tiny of a sum of success to do so in the first place – there time could be better spent else where

  6. The Tories have all got a rich victim mentality. They think they are being robbed blind by the masses of benefit cheats and scroungers. They actively chased down pensioners or disabled people who are living off pennies.

When the reality is they are the ones that fuck the system. They know every loophole and every scam to keep ahead.

Notice they don’t give a shit about chasing companies that get handed 6/7/8 figure PPE contracts with no reason or experience, rich people that dodge tax, corruption etc.

  7. I see you made a transaction at Bargain Booze. Claim closed.

  8. If you are receiving other peoples hard earned money, the state should be allowed to ensure you are not lying. However, potential tax dodgers should also be snooped.

  9. Am I the only one worried that this whole “benefit fraud” angle is the foot in the door?

Sure right now, it’s just for checking for benefit fraud/mistakes, but what about it 10 years, under another government even, how will these powers be used then???

  10. There’s nowt in my mams account. British Gas are getting it all.

  11. This must be that ‘social democracy’ that Liz Truss was complaining about.
