Guardiola was, of course, the one that should’ve been Barca’s Ferguson, but we all know what happened. So, in my opinion, Luis Enrique should’ve been the next option.

Luis Enrique won 8 titles, treble included, under Bartomeu. And he would’ve won a second treble in 2016 if Barca didn’t get robbed against Atletico on UCL. And they had a really good chance of it in 2017 as well, where they only lost the league by 3 points, and UCL could’ve had a better run if the players gave it their all (just like in the league, the games they lost were sloppy. Attitude and mistakes were horrible).
Imagine what he could be doing right now with Laporta, with the board’s full support, where he gets the player he wants (and doesn’t get random players added to his team, i.e., Turan) and the freedom to do with the team what he wants. There’s a reason the Spanish media celebrated his exit and continues to hate on him, just like Guardiola.

I know I will get hate for this because, unfortunately, 2014-2017 is remembered as the MSN era, not giving enough credit to Luis Enrique.

And I know what some of y’all might say: “How come you are blaming the players and not him? How can you say that?!”. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not perfect, not even Guardiola is. But LE knew before the start of the 2016-2017 campaign he had to make changes in the dressing room because players were getting toxic, but he didn’t get the support he needed from Bartomeu. This has happened in Man City before, but Man City’s board gave Pep the support to act quickly and as he thought it would be best. This is normal for a winning team; the coach just needs support.

  1. Can anyone come up with an explanation for using the “unpopular opinion” tag for anything else than as a “guard” for downvotes?

  2. In his time we had problems with the building up and we had pique+busi.

  3. Doubt he would come back, he resigned he dident get sacked

  4. God please no, this dude’s stubbornness fucked us repeatedly, he’s incapable of developing sustainability within the roster while providing opportunities to la masia players (which is the barcelona formula for almost 40 years now). He’s repetitive and couldn’t adapt his scheme to the players we had, anyone that actually watches the games instead of just seeing results knows that what really kept the team going back then was MSN and Iniesta when healthy, his style of play has not resulted in anything since he left barca and there’s no point in missing him.

  5. I don’t know. I remember his strategies as 7 players defend and 3 players try to create goals. MSN were so out of touch with the rest of the team. Don’t think that this is something that could last for long, hence losses in CL and La liga
