Donald Trump headed “directly to conviction” for Jan. 6: Legal analyst

  1. Let me know when it happens and he faces any meaningful consequences

  2. Absent a miracle, is there any dispassionate reason to think this will be known before the GOP convention?

  3. The conviction is meaningless if the punishment ends up being a joke. Wake me up when this human underwear stain is in prison.

  4. > Former President Donald Trump is headed “directly to conviction” for his alleged involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, according to legal analyst Laurence Tribe on Friday.

How the bloody fuck can it be “alleged involvement” when millions of people saw him doing it?

  5. I would not say headed “directly” given the extended length of time it took to just get his insurrectionist ass indicted.

  6. Given all the evidence I would hope he is convicted and faces real consequences. But, I don’t believe he will. Too many Americans want him as dictator to allow any real punishment, imo.

  7. He should be placed in prison. There must be real consequences for what he did. I’m a conservative and even I can see this plain truth.

  8. No one wants him in office. If that scumbag subsidizes groceries it will cause a chain reaction of nation’s citizens to demand cheaper food and housing

  9. Does a conviction prevent him from holding office? If not, what does it matter?

He needed impeached and Congress failed its duty to defend the Constitution.

    The coup is ongoing.

  10. Is anyone else worried about jury selection? Or is that just me… i haven’t hear these analysts discuss it much. They seem to have an immense amount of faith in our justice system.

  11. I want this horrible excuse of a human to be behind bars as much as the rest of us, but why does this sub continue to feature so many articles from Newsweek? They are complete trash regardless of what one’s political leanings are. The wiki page for Newsweek is illuminating, and this sub should have higher standards.

  12. Blah blah. He’s always one step ahead and never faces any consequences

  13. Oh gosh. In 97 months Trump may face potential probation. Broken effing record

  14. Okay, so when he gets convicted, but then wins the election because of the Electoral College, what happens?

  15. Not sure Legal Analyst knows meaning of direct. GPS has been recalculating for a few years now…

  16. He may well be headed to conviction, but that he’d lose “much of his support in the polls” seems unlikely (his cult will love him all the more for it). All we can hope for is a 3-4% drop in the polls against Biden in the general. It would still be way too close an election where the GOP nominee is a felon, convicted for trying to overturn an election.

  17. I cannot wait until he is cuffed and hauled off. You all know some of his cult members will try to go and break him out with force, they will be dealt with, and then hopefully we can move forward and actually back on track as a country.

  18. I think every legal analyist/commentator who predicts Trump will really get it this time should be placed in a windowless room with every other analyst/commentator who has made the same prediction at some point over the last eight years…

…and, that’s it. That’s where they live now. In that room.

  19. Lawrence Tribe is not a reputable source on Trump.
I hope he’s correct, but he’s totally unbelievable.

  20. Trump should be held accountable ofc for J6 but there were definitely fbi provocateurs in that crowd and the democrats in the establishment wanted J6 to happen and they allowed it to occur (plus the security camera footage from that day). Liberal outlets have been constantly talking about j6 for the past 2 years.

  21. Yeah, I’ll keep holding my breath that he’ll actually face any legal repercussions.

  22. The worst case scenario is him dying before the trial plays out, America needs to see that trial. As far as I’m concerned this sentient pantloads new purpose in life is to be proven to be the absolute embarrassment and disgrace he is. He can die after.
