  1. “On immigration, he said it was essential that the EU and the UK worked to somehow establish a “fair distribution” of those people arriving, but this required understanding and close cooperation.” Ah I suspect this is the real reason

  2. He is not wrong, but he really should have said “together we’re all stronger.”

  3. > Martin Schulz, former leader of Germany’s ruling SPD

More like a *former* top German politician.

  4. ahahaha now that the German economy is going down the toilet they desperately need another ATM to keep the EU project going lmao

  5. Jesus christ. They left DEAL WITH IT FFS. LET IT GO ALREADY.

Uk to EU: you can’t forget us can you?

  6. As a remainer, Schulz can suck our collective cocks. You were one of the main federalist hardliners in the early days of the negotiations.

We aren’t interested in an equitable share of asylum seekers that Merkel encouraged. If Germany was interested in keeping the union together and close co-operation it should have thought about this. Want to act like the top dog in Europe and make all the decisions for everyone when it comes to solving international crises, fine fuck off then and deal with the consequences of your decisions yourself. At least we are owning our mistake.

We told you that a hard Brexit would backfire on you as well and lead to a increase in the AfD vote but nope, apparently we were in the weaker negotiating position and all the negatives would be on us.

Not interested and not interested in forging closer youth cultural ties with the EU, which will be a one way street with us learning all about the EU and next to no fucking understanding of our position and world view outside of *”hahah silly Brits still think they have an empire”* (despite France still acting like a colonial power).

Fuck you Schulz you prick, too late now. This is starting to sound like China and Taiwan.

  7. How long have you known the UK and how long have you known that calling us weak has never worked.

  8. ““On immigration, he said it was essential that the EU and the UK worked to somehow establish a “fair distribution”

Somehow I don’t think he means for this redistribution to be in the UK’s favour. The EU has never been part of the solution to any of the UK’s problems, but it sounds like we’re the solution to theirs.

  9. *On immigration, he said it was essential that the EU and the UK worked to somehow establish a “fair distribution” of those people arriving, but this required understanding and close cooperation.*

The absolute cheek, they want the UK to suffer because the EU cannot secure its own external borders. Perhaps they should start by clamping down on all those charities operating a shuttle service in the Med importing migrants from North Africa by the boat load before they talk about a “fair distribution”

  10. Slight irony hearing this from Germany, maybe the EU wouldn’t have lost half of it’s military if Germany actually had a military of it’s own and didn’t just leave the whole thing to France and the UK.

  11. This is honestly becoming some sort of meme with German politicians. Lindner, UvDL and now Schulz.. The UK formally left 3 yrs ago and you guys were happy to see us out.. now when there’s a downturn in German GDP, you seem to be all of sudden very interested in pointing out that ‘UK is alone and weak’.

  12. What are with these daily threads recently? Ever since the UK gdp revision this talk went nearly completely silent for a good few months, but now it seems to be creeping back up again.

  13. Someone accidentally pressed the “demand vassalisation” button

  14. So he wants the UK to take a “fair distribution” of the asylum seekers arriving in the EU because he’s worried that the German electorate might vote for the AfD in greater numbers?

I think we’ll pass on that generous “offer”, thanks.

  15. Well if we’re so weak why do you want is back so badly?

  16. >*“Alone you are weak. Together we are strong.”*

Or as the American Benjamin Franklin once said, *”We must, indeed, all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”*

The stronger powers of the world love preying on the weaker ones.

  17. This guy could teach lessons in how best to convince British people to do the opposite of what you want.

  18. Schulz is like the last reasonable guy in the SPD. I mean, there’s also Thierse, but the media took Thierse apart over his stance on idpol.
