Lack of rain has some experts worried about continuing B.C. drought. While an atmospheric river is expected to hit the South Coast on Monday, eight of B.C.’s 34 water basin regions remain at the highest drought levels.

  1. A dry November across much of B.C. is expected to give way to wetter weather, with an atmospheric river forecast for the South Coast on Monday, but even so, some experts are concerned about lingering drought conditions.

Environment Canada meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau said a series of storms in early November brought some moisture, but the last few weeks of the month were abnormally dry. Depending on what part of the province you’re looking at, November is usually among the rainiest months in B.C.

Charbonneau said it’s unclear if it will remain dry through winter, but warmer temperatures are likely. El Nino conditions, which are linked to warm ocean water in the equatorial Pacific, aren’t usually felt in B.C. until late December.
