I think Putin and Orban want to make Poroshenko a useful idiot.
Poroshenko probably wants to run for President again after Zelenskyy, and Zelenskyy has indicated not running after the war ends. So he could be doing a calculus in his mind that if Hungary was to convince Putin to give a good, negotiated settlement, he could be president and not have all the charges hang over his head. Then he would acquiesce to some of the demands that Putin has regarding Ukraine’s leanings.
He has the age to help out to defending Ukraine, just give him some empty bottles so he can prepare molotov cocktails.
I think Poroshenko wants to help, but he is over stepping his position as ex-president. It would be like Obama meeting putin to talk without consulting Biden, not going to happen. Poroshenko may be able to help at the blockade though.
