Note: I added “In meeting with Egyptian President” to clarify the context of the statement.
When the Israeli government allows settlements, doesn’t that result in the “forced relocation of Palestinians”?

I don’t support the permanent forced relocation of civilian populations, which is a violation of the Geneva Conventions and a war crime; still, I can’t help but marvel at how openly the US yanks on the leash of a notionally sovereign state, and how no one seems to think there’s anything odd about it.
But if the Palestinians, over many decades, have demonstrated that relocation is the only solution that will stop the violence, what choice does anyone have. “They will never stop trying to murder Israel,” doesn’t leave any realistic options. And it’s cruel to mindlessly just go with the endless cycle of terrorist rockets followed by IDF crackdown.
It really sucks that my party is on the wrong side of this. Democrats are supposed to be the smart, logical party.
1948 would like a word.
The US will not “permit”?
Was she supposed to say that out loud? It implies a degree of omnipotence over the affairs of nations.
To the ones who think Trump would have done better or that Biden isn’t bold enough, just think about what Trump would have done about this case and many others (Ukraine, climate change, etc.).
Well she didn’t say anything about not allowing them to take more territory so….they could really just take half of whatever is left of Gaza and say yeah we didn’t relocate anyone, we just left them all in a smaller Gaza, with some political words etc to make it seem like anything different
After all they have been supporting more settlements being built all this while anyway, so why stop now
Thank goodness the US sent such a learned legend in foreign policy and relations to discuss this delicate matter.
That’s a mistake for both Israel and Palestine.
Excellent.
Forced? No of course not. But voluntarily distressed? Absolutely!
She’s a shit show
Bombing them into nonexistence on the other hand…
Should probably relocate the bad ones to hell
Not permit, just look the other way while it has been happening
Can anything be trusted? I don’t believe a word the us govt says
…until it happens and then they’ll say Israel only did it by necessity and its an unfortunate reality… but that it’s just something we all need to accept and move on from.
Israel better step up to the plate and help rebuild and educate and invest in the future of Palestine. They absolutely should eradicate Hamas, but they owe it to the innocent families there, and they owe it to themselves in the future so children there don’t grow up despising Israel. I have a feeling when the political pendulum swings the other way, away from that fucking dirtbag scum Bibi to a government that the people of Israel have been protesting for, this will happen.
is she going to call her ‘very good close allies’, the north koreans?
maybe she will bring them water on an electric school bus?
this entire office is a clown show.
Yeah, so aren’t over half the population of Gaza *already* forcibly relocated Palestinians?
And didn’t the IDF order the entire civilian population to cram into the southern half or be killed as terrorists?
A little late to the ethnic cleansing party, veep.
Does she realize she isn’t the VP of Israel?
