  1. why would you change at Paris for Nice, instead of at Marseille ? Newcastle and Marseille are both on the black line ?

Birmingham to Brussels ? when Brussels is on the red line, indicating you have to change from the black line that Birmingham is on.

  2. There’s less chance of them ever extending the Glasgow subway, to be fair

  3. Most of those routes vis France are present and very do-able. We travel by train all the time, more climate appropriate.
The UK lines..well, we know they are a joke.
Biggest difference between mainland and UK : Nationalisation

  4. To be fair, this is pretty much possible if you have some changes. Change at London and then change at Paris or Brussels. The only issue is if you want to take your dog then it’s a no-go because of Eurostar.

  5. 1990s: In a couple of years you’ll be able to take a high speed train from Glasgow to the South of France without changing services.

2020s: Trains are woke and we needed that money to fix potholes.

  6. I really wish the tunnel/long distance train wasn’t so expensive. Id happily take the train through to Spain, lille etc but it genuinely costs 4-5x as much, is less convenient, slower and less comfortable somehow.
