  1. Between extreme work lives, sexy anime, and Gojira; males sense!

  2. Seems to be a growing trend across the modern world.

I suppose everyone has their theories.. but I don’t think it’s that people don’t want to get married and have children. I think it’s more they feel the social contract has been broken in various ways. Neither gender seems particularly pleased with the state of things.

  3. Good, the world is overpopulated .

Less people equals less pollution, less destruction of the environment, less exploitation of resources that aren’t unlimited and so on.

There are already 7 billion people on this small planet . How many more do we need!?!?

  4. It’s almost like something has to change! But not in our work culture, it’s people’s fault! /s

  5. It’s pretty common for major cities to have low birthrates or even a net population loss from births/deaths. It’s been common for centuries. Usually made up for by massive migration from the countryside.

Makes sense in a country with overall low birthrates that the largest city and capital would have even lower. Not really insightful news.

  6. I don’t think it is just about financial reasons. People don’t want to waste 20+ years of their life taking care of their kids. Many higher middle income people can afford to have kids but choose not to. They have hobbies, friends and travel to focus on.

  7. There’s frankly a lot that needs to be done to address this, and the path that is currently being chosen will do nothing to slow the decline. First and foremost, they need to stop listening to politicians and bring a together a diverse panel of scientists to begin work on unscrambling everyone’s genitals….who could possibly find a hole or something to put into a hole in all that mess?

  8. This fact is showing that the low birth rate problem is not just a matter of money as income level of Tokyo is the highest among 47 prefectures in Japan.

Instead, Okinawa who has low income level has much higher birth rate than Tokyo.

  9. My wife is in a village near Fukuoka caring for her aging mother. Half the houses are empty, the stores have shut down, and the school is no longer used. You only see old people in the street.

  10. How realistic would it be for me to move to Japan to start a family? Lmao

  11. I dont think concrete jungle living is remotely close to “the natural state of man”.

Oscar Wilde imo had a very poignant quote, he was a poet and a playwright.

“Economists know the price of everything, and the value of nothing”.

  12. consequences of kids being a liability instead of a resource hard to fix when you need 25 years to become a productive member of modern society

  13. The cause of many of the worlds problems are so obvious and solvable but also requires the wealth and effort being distributed differently and so will not be done until civilisation as we know it is burnt to the ground. Or, we could not stand for it. You, take a look at who is benefiting from your work. now take the hard path and stop working for the oligarchs.

  14. Smart people don’t want to raise kids in this world. And Tokyo is about as educated a populace as it gets.
