They weren’t interested in solving problems. They just wanted to punish him as an example to the other batshits in their ranks.
Anybody sitting in the complex, if you want to come down to the floor and come explain to me, one meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done,” Roy said at the time
A rose by any other name still smells like shit.
Huh. turns out it isn’t easy for a major political party to just do nothing.
The solution is to hand power back to this party? The country is in a deep mess and the Ukraine war is a major issue. Pulling the plug on Ukraine and leaving that country high and dry as the Russians close in is going to do lasting damage to the reputation of the U.S.
The consequence of Ukraine falling will be felt in Europe and Asia. The Chinese are waiting to see what happens with Ukraine before they move on Taiwan. If the U.S. can’t provide aid to Ukraine then how will they provide aid to an isolated island surrounded by hundreds of Chinese warships?
That’s because the GOP themselves are the problem. Gand Old Problem should be one of the many new nicknames for this increasingly ridiculous party
The GOP focuses on manufacturing problems, not solving them.
Now wait, he is almost ready to start the Biden impeachment! That’s something at least…
Problem? They don’t see problems because they aren’t directly affected. They only see, “how can my rich owners and I keep being rich?”
You can’t solve lies with more lies
It’s becoming ever more apparent to me that the dysfunction is their plan, this is how they prove to the American people that the government just doesn’t work. Only Jebus can save us…
Republicans are famous for not being able to govern. One cause is certainly their unwillingness to work together under any sort of leadership. The country continues to suffer in order for the select few Republicans to go for clicks instead of governance.
Their problem is that they are a bunch of stupid anger consumed people who can’t govern themselves, let alone a country.
Duh?
Redneck clown car is redneck clown car.
The Republican Party is too much of the Trump party to be anything else. The last slightly sane moderates /old guard are trying to fight it, but they have to know on some level they did this Freedom Caucus bullshit to themselves. The problem is the Freedom Caucus has enough votes to force the most conservative possible choice for speaker, but that doesn’t actually equate to them getting what they want in any way shape or form, and they have the ability to either force a deal with democrats or a government shutdown, but they don’t actually want either of these things and would rather use them as a bargaining chips. The whole party loses if they deal with democrats, and the whole party loses if they are the reason for a shutdown, but the Freedom Caucus has an elementary grasp of political strategy, by which I mean the same grasp as elementary school children, so they’re just screwing their chances of re-election. The people who dump big money into republican campaigns must see this too, we’ve already seen some of them be hesitant about 2024 and i wonder if we will see them commit nearly the same amount of money, especially to candidates who made asses out of themselves. I am hoping they choose to play the long game and let the MFL, MAGA and Freedom Caucus crowd starve so that they can help promote moderate/more traditional candidates in 2026 and 2028. I think even the more conservative donors should be aiming for moderates given the complete lack of the ability of the party’s moderate wing to reign in or even meaningfully oppose their more radical counterparts.
mental illness take a while to cure. plus dont forget this is always about donations. money. the rest is bs.
Let’s be perfectly clear, MAGA Johnson is totally supportive of the Overthrow of our Democracy & creation of an Authoritarian White Nationalist Fascist Racist Caliphate under Trump. He couldn’t care less what his caucus does as long as they continue to obstruct the legislative process & get Trump elected.
He is a placeholder

Don’t like that little jab at Ukraine there…
The Republican majority isn’t interested in being effective, they are so wrapped up in their own egotistical battles with each other that the approach is to let the speaker take the heat for kicking the can down the road for 3 months at a time. Then the speaker can become a sacrificial lamb when someone’s nuts get in a twist. It’s a short term solution with them each time. I haven’t seen any reason to vote for a Republican my entire adult life and nothing seems to change that. The party is a boil on the butt of this country.
In a little less than 14 Months, Trump will be taking power for life with a strong Trifecta, thanks to a Media that can only see the profits that will make them, and an electorate that wants to “Send a Message” to Democrats by bringing Trump back, because they think Biden should have waved his Elder Wand and made the US into their vision of perfection in spite of Republicans in Congress, a Zealot Supreme Court, and Joe Manchin.
That’s asking a lot of a devout theocrat…
Who knew that doing the same things as the last guy would lead to the same problems?
They must not be doing it right.
All part of their gawd’s plan, right?
I am well and truly flabbered and ghasted.
A bit premature to determine what actual impact he will have. It’s been all of five minutes since he was elected to the position. Do I think the end result will be the same over a year? Sure. But this is a stupid article quite frankly.
It was never meant to solve problems.
Pretty safe to say the Republicans controlling the House have around one year to either mark off days on the calendar or to actually make their efforts matter. They will answer for their efforts (good and bad) next November. They have just a few vote margin for their rule. Buckle up-should be an interesting year ahead for us. Let’s hope meaningless diatribes and culture wars are so 2023 and not part of 2024.
Of course not. Because their problems are they don’t *want* to govern. They *want* to be an angry violent minority and stop anything from getting done out of spite and stupidity.
Republicans have no intent of reaching resolutions on anything with Biden in the white house. They are preparing for, what they believe, will be Trump 2024. Every action in the meantime is stalling. That should scare everyone.
Turns out the democrat president didn’t solve anything either.
