>“I won’t repeat this mistake and return this body to Gaza, because the same thing will happen,” Netanyahu said.
I think it’s first team I hear Netanyahu admit in a mistake. Anyhow I agree with the point. The PA are paying terrorists, and they can’t control the area they are in charge of so getting them into gaza will be a disaster in a pita
This certainly sounds like occupation rhetoric which is not going to end well
It isn’t really up to him. The US is pushing hard for the PA to be established in Gaza, so that’s what will happen, unless Bibi can change Biden’s mind.
Americans have always been in love with a crazy fantasy of a two-state solution with a secular, democratic Palestinian government, and Abbas gladly feeds that delusion for us (despite not having held elections in 15 years), so here we are.
Much as I dislike Bibi, if PA is not good enough to regain control of Gaza then what is the alternative? Permanent occupation by Israel?
So, what is the solution he proposes?
He isn’t wrong but his long term solution is.
So he just wants Hamas to keep it then?
Maybe carve Palestine up into 10 areas and have arab nations, UN etc take one each as caretakers
the main issue with PA is that they garnered a horrible reputation in the West Bank, so despite them being more open for two state solution negotiations, instating them would probably lead to the rise of new militias to overthrow them..
Hamas wins in PCPSR’s (palestinian surveying body) surveys even though both Fatah (PA) and Hamas are widely seen as corrupt (latest survey was before the war, so maybe it changed slightly, but last survey showed Hamas receiving 58% support and PA receiving only 37% with 87% believing PA is corrupt and 72% believing hamas is corrupt. another thing the survey showed is that 78% demand the resignation of PA’s Abbas, so if it does happen it might be a crapshoot who the next president is going to be).
Hamas lost some of the public support in this war, and if the war goes well and hamas is completely gone we will still need to see if the gazan public wants PA to be the new governing body of gaza
Someone must step up. Certainly not the UN. Perhaps a governor general appointed by the governments of the gulf states.
No way. We didn’t see that one coming. Netanyahu has been after Gaza for years now. He’s going all they way.
I mean, yeah, they’ve already shown they can’t be trusted to run shit for dick. Nor can the UN for that matter.
Israel should not be looking after the Gaza Strip full stop.
The only alternative that I can see is that Arab States, through the Arab league set up a permanent peacekeeping force like the U.N. After all the Arab League was set up to look after Arab interests in Arab affiliated States and countries. Since the Palestinians are an Arab group and had a significant impact on causing “The Palestinian issue” they should be helping to clean up the mess they caused in 1948.
The Arab League need to then address the issue of permanent Government and be responsible for it until it can be shown it can stand on it’s own two feet and be a responsible neighbour.
Has anyone told Netanyahu that we never really had Olso I?

Rabin was assassinated before the Oslo accords could be finalized and the Oslo accords that did finally pass weren’t the same thing.
Honestly that’s a very logical approach. Palestinian Authority is just a corrupt organization and let things get out of control.
not for him to decide
