In case anyones interested in context, elections are scheduled for March after the prime-minister resigned in the wake of a corruption scandal which saw some of his closest cabinet members implicated in rather incriminating circumstances, such as being found with piles of cash in the official residence of the PM, among other things.
This occurred less than two years into a government where the ruling Socialist Party achieved an unexpected majority in the previous elections and was rife with scandals.
And underline unexpected on that. No polls predicted such an outcome, just as no polls predicted that the current mayor of Lisbon would oust the previous one, who was also part of the Socialist Party and everyone thought he was an buffoon.
That the far-right Chega will increase their standing is pretty much a given though I still genuinely don’t know why polls attract so much interest. Most people say they will make up their minds closer to the day they actually have to go the ballot boxes.
If PS wins these elections and PNS becomes prime minister the portuguese will officially become the dumbest people in Europe. I ain’t even gonna be polite about, it really would be a ridiculously dumb thing to happen.
Don’t known barely anything about politics in Portugal.
What’s the barrier for getting a seat in parliament?
And how are the “establishment parties” expected to handle the far right? Is there a “cordon sanitaire”, or do they stand a chance of making it into government?
How are these polls conducted? Politico’s results have PS in second by 1% but here they are in first by 6.2% and don’t even have a leader yet…
What’s that boy? Another country is having rises in support for Eurosceptic parties?
For fuck’s sake. 8 years of the same party ruling with the same disregard for the normal citizen’s quality of life and still they get the most votes. I am so done with this shitty country and its insistence on not learning. I genuinely can’t feel less proud of my nationality.
Last week’s poll by [CESOP-UCP](https://twitter.com/EuropeElects/status/1729564283929768313) was a lot more realistic given that PS have no leader at the moment and I doubt that people from the left and center will mass vote PS again because of Chega growing. Both give a right-wing majority.

How is “Enough!” a reasonable name for a party?
My brain interpreted “PS” as “PiS” and I almost had a heart attack.
So, we’ll have to wait for the geriatrics to kick the bucket before we have a chance to be governed by someone other than the PS?
Whoever wins, same shit again.
This country has serious problems…
