No. These suggestions are just annoying and useless at this point. They’ve been tried before even in elections where the gap was far smaller than Trump’s gargantuan lead over whoever the heck is in second now. It just doesn’t work. Not enough Democrats will bother doing that.
Republicans shat the bed, they should clean it, not the Democrats.
I live in Texas and used to do that all the time. I will never pass up a chance to vote against Rick Perry.
I do this in Alabama. I helped knock Mo Brooks out of the senate race!
And the news will broadcast at how small the dem primary turnout has been, discouraging marginal voters from voting on the general election. Massive dem primary voting will discourage the marginal gqp voters into not voting. Dumb!
That’s what I’ll be doing. I’m leaning towards Christy unless there’s a more meaningful way for me to vote. I’m in a deep red county of a deep blue state, so taking a Republican primary ballot makes more sense to me.
As a registered independent, I am really leaning towards voting in the R primary so I can at least make SOME difference. No point in just padding Biden’s primary numbers against a challenger who has no chance.
Why would I do that? He’s the candidate with the most baggage by far and will likely be convicted of multiple crimes before the election. He also already lost to Biden once. There is nobody better to run against.
Trump is not gaining ground with moderate Republicans or Independents. And you need them to win an election.
People will crawl through glass to vote against Trump. You don’t get the same effect with a Nicky Haley or DeSantis
Trump is Cancer, and I’m not going to stop the Republican Party from drinking more Uranium.
Works for Republicans in NYC, they’ve been pulling this move for ages.
Democrats need to start running as republicans. People overwhelmingly like democratic policies, but will often just vote for the R.
So the idea would be to nominate a more capable and electable but equally as conservative politician? No thanks.
I do this in Missouri
I’m a Democrat registered as a Republican for this reason alone.
Register Republican and then vote Democrat. Vote Blue
It depends whether the alternative is more electable or not. There is an army of people waiting to move in and change lots of stuff. They are not tied to trump. If he is not the candidate they will just move to whoever it is. Trump is not the problem. He is a symptom. If you boot him out and Haley wins it will still be a huge problem.
Shhhh! We knew that already. Stop telling people.
The best thing you can do to protect your right to vote is register republican. Otherwise your name may get purged from the roles or your polling place will move.
I’ve done this for so many years that the Republican party has asked me to run for office numerous times!
My wife and I are already there! American Independents registered Republican for this election. If the donations are going Nicki Haley’s way then she gets our votes! 😁
I am absolutely doing this in Ca. I will have to register as a Republican for a hot minute.but that’s fine. I’ll just switch back.
I’ve been doing this in my deep red state for years now
As we saw last time, the primaries don’t require them to follow the will/vote of the people.
Have they thought of having candidates that appeal to the voters?
Great idea for those in states where it matters… If only they had the willpower to do so, because stopping a wanna be dictator, fascist, Hitler preaching, lying, conspiracy theory spouting, egotistical maniac who wants to take control of our government, and not let it be a democracy, should be priority one
My Boomer parents (GOP pre-Trump) did this in 2016 and 2020. Registered as Republican, voted against Trump in the primaries, then reregistered as Independent when he won. Yes they ended up on every donation list, but living in a blood red state, it was the most positive impact that they felt they could make.
I thought about changing to Republican just so they don’t kick me off the voter rolls
I was a registered Republican in FL1. Anything to vote against Matt gaetz more often.
This is discussed a lot and never had any meaningful impact. Would have to seriously mobilize a lot of Dems. Which if we can do that…than just do that for the real thing.
Don’t do this
You’ll be on their call list forever
It bolsters their numbers. Why aren’t 3rd party taken seriously? They don’t get primary interest. If Republican numbers dwindle enough they just won’t be serious candidates.
There isn’t anyone to actually vote for that’s any good

Wild as in: what people have already been doing
