Bringing folks in for the sake of it and doing literally fuck all is absolute insanity.

We have vastly higher number of Ukrainians here per capita than anywhere else in Western Europe. Why? Because we give them way more benefits than anyone else.
They have been coming here for nearly 2 years now and are still coming at a rate of 800/week and we can’t fix it? And we haven’t worked out why yet?
It can be fixed with a stroke of a pen.
Drop the weekly social welfare payment for all Ukrainians to the next highest European payment of €106/week.
Problem solved overnight.

Absent a Job Guarantee where anyone coming into Ireland is building their own accommodation + contributing to solving the housing crisis, no more people should be arriving.
And I would absolutely support near-unlimited immigration into such a Job Guarantee – it would be an incredible economic boost.
