Trump pardoned a hodgepodge of controversial figures, from Joe Arpaio to Roger Stone. Now, dozens of them are contributing to his 2024 bid or have spread his false election claims.

  1. When will we get an investigation into how many of them paid for those pardons?

  2. If there was any justice, Arpaio’s tent city jail would be reopened so he could be the only inmate for the rest of his nasty, bitter life.

  3. Anyone know how many of them paid the $2M indulgence fee?

*As soon as the coin in the coffer rings, the guilty crook from prison springs.*”

  4. i first read that as “his false erection claims” and I think that would also be true.

  5. Trump pardoned 2/3 of these guys. Paul Manafort and Roger Stone. (pic from 1989)

Famous for giving GOP campaign polling data to Russian spies, and instigating the Brooks Brothers Riot that convinced Florida Supreme Court to stop the recount in 2000.

The core of Republican party has been rotten for decades. The third guy in the photo, Lee Atwater, is famous for this quote (heavily edited to remove racial slurs)

    > You start out in 1954 by saying, “N*, n*, n*.” By 1968 you can’t say “n*”—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites.… “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “N*, n*.”

By the way, the “forced bussing” he was talking about were also known as “reverse freedom rides”. Southern pro-segregation racists were bussing blacks to northern cities with false promises of jobs and assistance on arrival. Sound familiar to anyone?

The Republican Party is just as disgusting, bigoted, and racist as it was 60 years ago. It’s the same guys pulling the levers doing the same exact things with slightly different flavoring.

The fact that Trump pardoned two GOP operatives from the same photo taken in 1989 just shows how deep the rot goes.

  6. Trump has reached a level of Mafia Teflon coating that this story is expected by detractors and fully accepted and supported by his supporters.

  7. I hate any of these articles about his pardons that don’t include the fact that he released blackwater mass murderers.

They need to print that headline daily. Trump pardoned mass murderers. The other pardons pale in comparison to that.

  8. The pardon power is so stupid. Why a group of men, who were afraid of a tyrant coming to power, decided to give one person a unilateral power is beyond me. Hell, even some of the Framers realized it could be used nefariously (“*the prerogative of pardon in these cases was too great a trust. The President may himself be guilty. The Traytors may be his own instruments*”).

  9. “How many of you have ever felt personally victimized by Joe Arpaio?”

    🙋🏼‍♂️

  10. It’s how thoughts rattle around in trumps 1950’s mindset empty head. “I did you a flavor now youuse do me a flavour.

  11. Blatant corruption and nothing but a transparent con game. These people are so undeserving of pardons and likely negotiated a settlement with Trump in exchange for a pardon. How can anyone support such a two bit thug like Trump?

  12. Of course. That’s how it works. What did you think they were going to do turn on him?

  13. Need to Vote and make sure there is no sequel to that mess. Vote Blue!

  14. Quid pro quo. Wasn’t that what he was impeached for the first time around?

  15. Gee looks like he knew who to pardon for a rainy day!

  16. Dose Reddit news have a agenda ? Are they owned by someone who clearly dosnt want him as president again?

  17. There is absolutely nothing this asshole has done, or plans to do, that surprises me. I’m an old woman and Trump is the sorriest sack of shit that’s ever been in the WH. 😁

  18. He even pardoned corrupt Democrat Rod Blagojevich. It seems like he has a type that will inspire him to cross party lines.
