Rather sad tbh. They’re being brought up in an endless cycle of hate.
I need to save this to link to people in the every now and then “What kind of compromises would we be up for to achieve a United Ireland?” posts, where inevitably someone will suggest we could do a new flag, which gets the even more inevitable response of “Sure they are represented on the flag by the orange”
It does seem sad and silly but when you’ve grown up in a community terrorised by those who wrapped themselves in that flag and you’ve seen a steady feed of media where that flag is shown draped over the coffins of those terrorisers and flown at the rallies of their political mouthpieces you can surely start to see why there is a negative view of it and though it was designed to represent peace between the two communities that meaning simply doesn’t exist anymore.
You can’t blame these young girls for the Irish flag being tainted in their communities eyes.
United Ireland my arse. That represents more than a flag.
And look at her culturally misappropriated India as well.
They’ve a future living in a council estate pushing prams and living on the dole, bringing their inbred orange spogs to the bonfires and hopefully watching them fall off it and posting the tragedy on face book.
Sad little people worried that they will use their ability to belittle and bully a section of society.
As I get older I realise what toothless losers they are without the backing of their war crime friends.
How the media controlled people around the Ukraine and Palestine conflict however would tell you that if Rupert Murdoch and his mates wanted, they could start it all up again.
Excuse my ignorance…
Who burns the Union Jack?
Never forget the lad from the palletshute regiment, that was hilarious 😂
What’s the point of this? There are Catholic kids in the same city burning union jacks.
It’s as ridiculous as Israel putting a Palestinian symbol on their flag and saying “now lads just join Israel, sure look we put a bit in our flag for ye”
When I was a kid on the falls, our neighbour’s ma used to always put out Irish tri-colours. My family was proud to be Irish but we never put out tri-colours. When my neighbour’s son asked me why we don’t do it, my da replied “we don’t need a flag to know we’re Irish” to which my neighbour roared “AYE, YOUSONS THINK YOU’RE SO POSH!” and me da replied “Yeah must be feckin posh living next you yeah” (Da is a Dubliner who went to Belfast in the 80s and everyone thought he was a traveler because they didn’t hear the accent much).
Long-story short, both sides of the communities have deeply-ingrained hatred that doesn’t belong in the modern day.
