Great Ormond Street children’s hospital guards to strike in dispute over sick pay

  1. “Outsourced security guards”

“36 security guards are only entitled to statutory sick pay, which is just £96.35 a week, whereas NHS staff at the hospital”

They’re not employed by the NHS or directly for the GOH and as such don’t get the benefits that the other staff get.

This also might seem mean but, I also find it hard to believe that replacing 36 security guards will be a problem if they in fact do go on strike for…. “six weeks” lol good look with that.

  2. It’s sad that a children’s hospital needs security guards. What is it they are guarding against? Childsnatchers? Angry parents? Thieving?

Nothing against the actual guards who should be paid fairly just can’t get my head around them being needed in a children’s hospital
