Didn’t think they would need one given the multiple land options they have.
Should just pre-emptively and immediately grant Ukraine full NATO member status at the first indication of aggressive movement.
Ukraine is a prime example as to why North Korea or any other country should never trust the permanent members of the Security Council to give up their nuclear weapons
Yeah, it’s risky stuff. They can always just feint, or have the naval infantry come in later in the game.
What’s far more interesting is what VDV is planning though. They aren’t part of the buildup, I don’t think we’ve seen any out of the ordinary activity for them during all of this, aside from the regiment in Crimea being formed on the basis of a battalion.
So VDV is not going across the border with the Ground Forces, it leads me to believe that they might actually plan to use them they way they’re actually meant to be used. Air assaults, air lifts and maybe even drops.
Ooooor just waits for another ~10-15y until Putin dies, I doubt they will find a 2nd Russian that doesn’t drink, not sure how many remember Boris Yeltsin.
What a poorly thought out article. The author is under the premise that Russia plans a full on invasion of Ukraine. We have no plans for such. If you listen to all the talk from Russian officials, it’s always ‘military technical means’. To decipher that for this author, it’s essentially long rang cruise missiles strikes destroying the air force, navy and that warehouse they keep a couple of Turkish drones in. Disabling runways and maintaing air superiority coverage with Sam’s placed near their border. I doubt Russia will even go for strikes on ground units as they will pose little threat after the initial shock and awe campaign. Then we’ll brace ourselves for sanctions, lots of tweets, top post on this sub and Lithuanians holding hands with whilst waving Ukrainian flags with CNN host losing their minds.
