  1. Fine Gael, McEntee and Harris have really, really royally fucked up in their approach to policing.

Despite Harris being horrific at the job, something that many claimed was obvious from the beginning when you look at his history in Northern Ireland, I will say that he is being slightly hamstrung by Fine Gael’s neoliberalism that’s left him with less police than, I think it was, 10 years ago on the streets.

  2. From another website:

“A young man is in a critical condition in hospital following an attack involving a number of people in Dublin city centre overnight.

The victim, who is aged in his 20s, was socialising with friends in the south-inner city before the assault occurred.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident outside a pub on Usher’s Quay in Dublin 8 and discovered the man with serious head injuries.”

  3. Just to add
Gardaí believe the man was socialising in a pub in the area when an altercation occurred with another group of men.
When the victim left the bar, later, he was set upon by a number of men and physically assaulted and suffered serious head wounds.

  4. Testament to the tenure of this Minister for Justice, actions have been to consistently fail at their job

  5. The main reason I don’t go out to pubs to “socialise” . Some lads are out to press their fragile egos on people

  6. It’s a shame he JUST missed Helen McEntee and her Garda escort walking past on their magical safety tour

    “Safe city” my hole

Hope he recovers and has no life altering injuries 🙏🏻

  7. I don’t usually comment here, but what is genuinely stopping most people, now, after all this, from carrying literally anything to defend ourselves in any sort of manner?

Granted weapons are not something I advocate

But what is actually stopping us at this point if everybody gets away with it anyway? It’s become so much of a joke about not hearing anything with repercussions the people who are violent get away with

Now this isn’t the way to go, it would spiral, fast, but it’s just, sad

  8. Don’t worry the judge will give them a slap on the wrist.

  9. Fake news: sure didn’t McEntee and Harris reassure us that they have everything under control.

  10. Until the courts start lashing people out of it with proper sentences for violent offences these things will continue to happen and continue to spiral out of control whilst escalating in the level of violence that’s being used.

I’m all for trying to change things, bringing people out of poverty and education etc etc… But when people are at the stage they’re committing violent assaults like this or stabbing people it’s too late at that stage. Prison to punish them, keep us safe for a good chunk of time and try reform them from there.

  11. No doubt there’ll be another strident protest over this any moment now by those concerned citizens.

  12. The entire culture around drinking in Ireland ensures this behaviour will always occur. It’s awful, but it’s not something that will always occur on some level no? Yiz are numbing the fuck outta our craniums while upright in a muscle laden meat stick?

  13. Until the country starts adopting a UAE approach to sentencing you’ll never really be safe in Dublin.

Helen McCenTeaTowel is currently finalising the finishing touches for hate speech laws to prevent these attacks.

  14. The Lord Mayor has announced Dublin is being twinned with Gotham City.
