Trump’s call to ‘go into’ cities and ‘watch’ elections sounds alarms

  1. That’s ok, liberals can watch elections too. And they can watch the watchers.

I’ll be damned if some moron comes along to my polling place and start threatening people. They will be met with resistance.

  2. You know, just in case it wasn’t inherently clear what Trump intends to do here…

  3. Like I said before, Republicans are the ones that need to be watched evidenced by their criminal behaviors already. Still in court for some of these infractions as we discuss this today.

I think more people should be involved in working in the election offices, and I don’t care who watches who. it’s when you cross the line of Tampering with voting machines … that is when the real hammer should come down

  4. This is why Republicans are against voting by mail, because it hurts their strategy to discourage voters by shutting down polling stations or sending people to intimidate voters who show up.

I’m glad my state lets me vote by mail so I can avoid all that.

  5. >“The most important part of what’s coming up is to guard the vote, and you should go into Detroit, and you should go into Philadelphia, and you should go into some of these places – Atlanta – and you should go into some of these places, and we gotta watch those votes when they come in,” he said.

Trump wants his base to visit “the inner cities” on election day.

  6. “Go into” cities. Because Trump believes all of his supporters live in caves and rotten tree stumps

  7. This guy doesn’t have the ability to learn anything lol he’s giving the green light to do another J6

  8. As a sometimes poll watcher, this shit is insane. Both parties can and do send poll watchers, but their mission and purpose is basically a fun house mirror version of one another. I’ve done Dem poll watching in two elections. My job is simple: ensure that people who have the legal right to vote can vote, and if there’s uncertainty, ask if they’d like to fill out a provisional ballot pending determination of eligibility. This is mostly done through engagement (talking to folks if they have questions, are confused, or are turned away from the polls, hopefully directing them to resources or the correct polling place). Republicans poll watchers, on the other hand are there to disenfranchise potential voters. They literally sit there and make challenges to the eligibility of voters. Mind, poll workers *already and by law have to verify voter eligibility* so this is just to fuck with people. Both sides are not the same.

  9. I don’t think people understand the long game with him and his base. When he claimed voter fraud most were black strongholds and many of his cult don’t thinks blacks should vote

  10. Sure is convenient that the cities he calls out are all in highly competitive states. Surely just a pure coincidence and nothing nefarious…

  11. Judging by FB comments most of his supporters are terrified to go into cities. I see multiple variations of this all of the time

    > “I would never go into Charlotte or Durham! You’ll be shot or robbed!”

But I guess if they’re committing a crime on his behalf they’ll put fear aside and be a gravy seal.

  12. Yes, I think we all know what “guard” and “watch” ballot counting means.

We all saw the result of Trump’s last order to the masses, “Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild.”

  13. Coming into blue States and (especially) cities, and trying to intimidate people is not going to end very well. I kinda LOL just thinking about these fools trying to roll up into Chicago.

  14. 1% of his base will actually take action, and most likely will get themselves arrested

  15. Poll Watchers can scream and yell at Election Judges, all it will do is slow down those who will show up to vote. If Dems hand out leaflets about expect delays because the PW will attempt to harass Election Judges which slow the check=in process for all voters.

  16. This is a tough ask with Fox News airing constant footage of these cities basically being a GTA 5 server.

  17. This is exactly how he is going to obliterate elections. If he knows he can’t win, he’ll make it so that no one can.

  18. If I remember correctly, he made the same call to action in 2020, but was thwarted by the pandemic.

  19. I keep hearing polls state trump is gaining favor with male black voters. I don’t think this is going to help him with that. Or do they know he is a racist and they just don’t car?

  20. I think they forget that democrats and republicans both vote.

if someone threatens me when I go vote I’m calling the sheriff.

They can deal with the idiots

  21. Trump is calling up the brown shirts and the unfortunate thing is many of them are also the very police that would stop them from committing crimes.

This is the political equivalent of yelling “FIRE!” in a crowded theater only Trump is attempting to instigate the fire.

  22. **Trump Supporter Views**

Did they vote via certified service with a mail in ballot for other guy?

    Invalid Ballot

Did they vote in person at a certified voting station with the proper credentials and still voted for the other guy?

    Also an Invalid Ballot

  23. Why is a desperate man who is trying to stay out of prison and will do and say anything to do so being allowed to run for president?

  24. Trump is literally calling on rural whites to harass Black voters in urban polling places. It’s right out of the Jim Crow handbook.

That said, if a bunch of MAGA rednecks from rural Georgia come into Atlanta and start harassing Black voters in the heavily diverse parts of town, it will not go well for the fascists, needless to say.

  25. Sounds like a dog whistle for voter intimidation.

  26. It *should* sound alarms. Everything this fascist says should sound an alarm in the head of any American who wants to avoid either dictatorship or civil war.

Trump’s obvious goal (which he will deny) is to flood cities with dangerous lunatics who will cause enough disturbance to undermine the vote count, and he doesn’t care if they commit acts of violence in the process. They’ll do what they did last time and harass the poll workers, and the poll workers may quit. This will, of course, delay the vote count, and that’s exactly what Trump is after in mostly-Democratic cities. He will also be able to point those the blue cities and say, “See how poorly they are run?” Cute, asshole.

It’s treasonous behavior to undermine our elections. Donald Trump is a traitor to democracy, and nearly half this country is cheering him on. If they could still muster any shame, I’d tell them to feel it right now.
