  1. The 23-gun salute in honor of Saint Barbara takes place on 4 December at 6.30 pm on the banks of the Rhine at St. John’s Gate in Basel. The salute is open to the public and is part of Basel’s history.

The patron saint of artillery is St. Barbara.

The Basel-Stadt section of the VSAV is the oldest artillery association in Switzerland and the oldest military association in the canton of Basel-Stadt. It maintains the tradition of Barbara salute shooting with a 7.5 cm field gun (built in 1903).

  2. Pretty cool. Can you guys also host the Lausanne cannonade? It’s nice but I’d really prefer sleeping instead of feeling like I’m in a war zone all night.
