An “enraged” Johnson asked security services to draw up “military options” to obtain “impounded” doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from a plant in Leiden after Britain had negotiated a deal with the company.

But while Britain’s security services were spared their biggest debacle on Dutch soil since Operation Market Garden, the claim has been widely reported on front pages in the Netherlands. Elsewhere, Russian state media generated a po-faced report on the claims, interspersing clips of Johnson with footage of British special forces and overlaying them with a sinister backing track.

  2. I’m not sure how I feel about that, erring towards being supportive of it. The impounding of vaccines always seemed like a jealous attack by the EU after we’d negotiated contracts before they did, for a vaccine developed here. I’m a remainer btw.

  3. Clown show.

This guys whole tenure is a bunch of kids at school playing a video game.

  4. What a mad thumbnail. He looks like an angry old potato that’s been left in the cupboard too long and grown roots.

  5. Boris Johnson, a man not shy of breaking the law. Convicted of breaking his own law. Lied to Parliament, continuously, lied to women, continuously. Sacked for lying as a journalist. Conspired to have Stuart Collier beaten up. So him considering stealing is not a real surprise, is it.

  6. OK, how are the SAS going to get 5 million temperature sensitive vaccines out of the country?

  7. Of course he did. When has he faced consequences for anything?

    Bullingdon club thug

  8. Ngl, this would have been a funny way to start ww3

  9. Why does the covid enquiry seem to be more interested in political positioning and stuff like this than tackling bigger, more fundamental questions like costs and benefits of lockdown etc?

  10. How many forklift pallets would this be? What would the weight be? Could a Merlin helicopter carry it?

  11. Exceptionally based, would have been the only good thing he did

  12. It seems far fetched, no? Even Johnson wouldn’t be so stupid as to officially request a plan to do something that would amount to a declaration of war on an allied neighbour.

  13. Is the bigger story not that a so called friendly nation impounded much needed medical supplies during a medical emergency

  14. We’d probably end up stealing the empty bottles used for packaging…..

In Michael Kane‘s voice of the Italian job, “you were only supposed to steal the bloody full bottles”

  15. What the actual fuck is wrong with this guy? He needs to be permanently detained for all our sakes.

  16. I’m sure the headline must be an exaggeration, or that they mean a metaphorical raid rather than a…

    Oh.

Given the man was so much of a fucking lunatic that he was trying to figure out whether we could start a war against the Netherlands, we should probably be grateful that his three years as Prime Minister weren’t an even bigger disaster than they actually turned out to be.

I wonder how much of that is down to the civil service managing to work around his craziest ideas and how much is down to his immense laziness meaning that he couldn’t be arsed to carry out his craziest schemes?

  17. I’m surprised no one has brought this up but most western nations have plans for how to invade just about every neighbour they have, that’s just a part of the modern military

Important medication legally owned by the UK was being withheld by another country, I imagine most countries would at least consider a military option on how to get it back

  18. It does feel like some hideous joke just how ridiculous BJ was at this.

  19. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is some Boris-planted bullshit which he can spend his time strenuously denying. All so he can sidestep the actual horrors caused by him being asleep at the wheel throughout the pandemic.

  20. I for one, as a selfish bastard, would approve of this plan in a doomsday scenario. If the alternative was myself, loved ones and millions of other Brits dying I would have happily accepted the consequences to the alternative of death.

  21. This country will take decades to recover from the cunts that destroyed it and the cunts who voted for it.

  22. Had he been watching ‘A Bridge Too Far’, the night before??

  23. No he didn’t. He might be selling that story to the mail but it’s bollocks.
