  1. From the article-

    “Improved Agricultural Practices:
    – Implementing more efficient livestock management practices, such as dietary modifications and waste management, can help reduce methane emissions from agriculture.”

What could each of us do? Switch to a fully plant based diet. If you don’t, at least boycott beef and dairy since the huge number of ruminants like cows produce a huge amount of methane.

Methane is 80 times more potent than CO2 in the first 20 years and 20 times more over 100 years. Manure from ruminants produce not only methane but also nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is 256 times more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas.

  2. From the article-

    “Waste Management:
    – Landfills are a substantial source of methane emissions as organic waste decomposes in anaerobic (low oxygen) conditions.”

Everyone who can, should compost their food and yard waste. That greatly reduces the methane that would otherwise be produced in landfills. Doing so also gives you free fertilizer for your garden. It’s nice knowing that your food waste isn’t completely wasted.
