Any particular reason why McDonalds at Wandsworth Bridge keep filling the urinals with ice cubes? Like I’d probably have to pee for an hour to melt them all..

  1. That’s just where they store the ice before putting it in your soda.

  2. As some comments mentioned, it’s to reduce odor but I think it’s also to save water. Rather than having an automatic flush regardless of use, ice cubes will reduce need for continuous flush.

  3. 1) They have a use by time on their ice so rather than dump it in the sink this is a good actual use of it

    2) it helps keep the smell down

    3) melting provides a continuous stream of water into the drain – they’ve probably got drain issues too

  4. Those are non flushing urinals. Probably to help with the smell. We have airflush ones at work and they stink.

  5. In the evenings when cleaning the ice bins you have to get rid of the ice. Usually the back sink is full of washing up so the next best place is the urinals. There’s other benefits as well but this is where it tends to end up.
