Amazon has been pestering me to swap my amazon prime (france) to the belgium site and i blatantly refuse. I really don’t care, since the prices on the belgium site are still way too high compared to our neighbouring countries.
I hope they’ll drop at some point but for now i’m good where i am.
Lots of prices are decent or the same, but generally the belgium website is more expensive. Idk why
Depends on the product. Recommend to check on Hagglezon
I wish people would just drop Amazon. You can get this item cheaper on other (Belgian) websites
Definitely depends on product. I’ve bought a lot on .com.be, and I always check other countries to find the cheapest one.
Lack of competition.
Any store, be it Amazon or something else, will put up the highest price they think they can get away with.
A significant part of this equation is the question “how far does the average consumer go to check for better prices?”.
And the answer is: almost nobody checks alternatives. The people who do that are a very small minority.
So it becomes a bidding war between consumer and store, and also between stores themselves.
This amount is what they still think they can get out of you.
They’ll claim this is “competition” and “the market working as intended” and try to emphasize to you that it’s the lowest price available on the market… but what they mean by that is: the stores they think the largest part of their audience goes to.
If you mention to them the german site… they’ll either ignore it, or claim that’s a different market.
What they call “lowest market price” is actually “highest price they think they can get out of you”.
I got switched to BE from DE then realized almost everything is more expensive on BE so I cancelled my prime and buy from DE as from €30 delivery is free anyway even without prime.
Last time I used Amazon BE, Bpost lost the parcel so it’s easier to shop DE and NL.
Because amazon is the devil and wants to milk the Belgians dry.
Just use a local website instead.
Fuck amazon
Because there are people paying for it
Taxes my dear watson
Dude, it literally says: available at lower price from other sellers. Click on it!
I consider this a shitpost..
I’m curious, if I buy something outside Amazon Be, do I need to pay customs fee? I noticed that most of the items I bought were dropped off either in Germany or France anyway yet I didn’t pay additional fee. But it’s probably because the custom fee is already part of the price? So I wonder if that’s the case if I switch to Amazon Germany or even US.
I bought a book on amazon UK and it cost me 14£. If I had used Amazon belgium i would have payed 44€!!!

Your screenshot is too short, but it looks like the one on .be isn’t sold directly by amazon itself, but a company offering its wares via Amazon. That seems the most immediate explanation for the massive price difference.
Now if it were a small price difference, things one should take into account:
– listed price is including VAT of the country the site is for. Actual VAT is calculated at checkout.
– promotions
Another good example is Playmobil. Most PM stuff is cheaper then Belgian or Dutch site beside some exceptions. Caus PM is German they can offer at lower price or bigger discount.
oh yea some products on LIDL webshop also cheaper in NL when compared to BE
Sad reality.
Even in German grocery stores, you get stuffs for really cheap compared to the ones in Belgium. Colruyt is the cheapest in Belgium but it’s more expensive than Lidl or Aldi (cheapest in DE) in Germany.
It depends on what you’re buying. Even when I was in the UK I sometimes bought from their German site. But Belgium did feel more expensive than the UK when I moved here; I don’t know what it’s like now, post-COVID and post Brexit. Booze and groceries seem to be cheaper in France. But Action & Kruidvat seem pretty good to me for prices.
I use Amazon.com.be now because I get next day delivery, even on Sundays, unless it’s coming from another country. And of course Amazon isn’t always the cheapest and I’ve ended up buying electricals from Vandenborre or FNAC a few times because they were cheaper and also local.
In case it’s of interest, Amazon Prime monthly prices also vary.

Like every multinational, Amazon wants to subdivide the European common market, and prey on countries with less competition. Fortunately, there are competitors [https://www.voordeeldrogisterij.nl/neutrogena-bodylotion-voor-droge-en-gevoelige-huid.html?channable=0336c669640032373935313137363291&gad_source=1](https://www.voordeeldrogisterij.nl/neutrogena-bodylotion-voor-droge-en-gevoelige-huid.html?channable=0336c669640032373935313137363291&gad_source=1)
