While I understand the political issues and such at work here, the general pattern of Germany as a whole and their arms industry in particular is to not make any sales, not be profitable and to be unreliable shirkers at every turn. Regardless of politics or which country you’re from it seems much wiser to buy weapons from anyone but Germany.
EU industrial and economic issues are one thing, but consequences of Erdogan policy are becoming very serious for Turkish military. He won’t get F-35 (what itself is a huge tragedy for TAF), he won’t get Eurofighters, he won’t get Rafale, upgrade package for F-16 is still under question. What is left for him right now? Russian or Chinese jets? Domestic products which at best scenario, will be at the level of old versions of F-16?
He is lucky that neighbours are either military obselote or not interested in agressive war against Turkey.

Well, an expected ending to an unexpected endevour. Turkey wanting buying Eurofighter Typhoons was so weird considering that Turkey has no experience outside US fighter jets and for the small number of fourty they would have created a disproportional logistics and maintanance system.
I am guessing that they wanted to aquire it as a stop-gap solution untill their domnestic fighter jet TF-X/Kaan can be put in substantial numbers. Turns out building a 5th generation fighter jet without having any prior experience in domnestic jet manufacture isn’t the smartest idea, especially considering that their jet will never ever stand up against the F-35, which they could have already in service if they wouldn’t have done that S-400 stupidity . .
Imagine missing out on the prime 5th generation fighter over some Russian junk that got blown up by the Ukrainians many times.
Well, Turkey won’t get jets from anywhere else, so I guess they’ll do the same with their aging F-16 as with their M60 tank.
Can we not talk about this again? Let’s make an appointment: How about the tuesday after Sweden joined NATO? Would that suit you, Recep?
