That’s a very misleading title. He’s actually very positive to supporting Ukraine as you can read in [this WSJ article](https://archive.ph/KmXJg):

He’s just trying to get some US border security policies passed as well. This is pretty normal for US politics; there’s nothing surprising or alarming to see here in my opinion.
Can’t the House just vote to remove him and replace him with someone else who will move the vote forward? Srs. This all started because 8 Republicans wanted McCarthy out and the Democrats sided with those 8. Isn’t there a Republican who can push this forward who’s not a part of the 8? Vote that guy in

News from the past few weeks has been progressively more depressing for Ukraine. This might genuinely be it for them. If U.S funding stops they won’t have enough ammunition to prevent endless russian meatwaves over the winter. And the EU still can’t get their head out of their ass to produce enough of even basic things like artillery shells.
Hamas and Gaetz both went on attack because the Russian FSB pulling their strings, told them to, as Putin’s Ukraine Hail Mary. Speaker Johnson is a weapon of Russia for all his cute smile.
The Republicans want to do neither of these things. They want to talk about US border security as a way of bludgeoning democrats. But they will never, ever agree on any actual solutions to the border issues. It’s worth more to them as a political talking point. So basically Johnson is just saying here he wants to never do either of these things and will be dragged kicking and screaming into any kind of support for Ukraine whatsoever.
He’s not opposing it he just wants something in return
In the 90s Clinton signed an assurance deal to reduce the number of nukes and planes Ukraine had. We are obligated to help now so this should be a non issue

To be Fair… the US border is an issue. I don’t think Democrats, who I tend to be more supportive of, will go for any legislation strengthening the border if not tied to something they very much want.
I don’t like that Ukraines fate is being used as a bargaining chip, but these are the times we are in and the hands we are dealt. Honestly, a better system for the border should be in both parties interest, just like Ukrainian victory.
They’re not mutually exclusive
No cares about unchecked immigration until it effects them. The rich white liberals, and repubs for that matter, don’t care because their wages and communities are not effected. If this is what it would take to fix illegal immigration I would be all for it. Unfortunately, the result will be less aid for Ukraine and no change to immigration at all, because the cheap labor is just too sweet.
