Can’t read it. What is the overriding reasoning behind the resignations? Is it down to salary or morale due to increasing stresses of the job etc?
Get dogs abuse from scumbags.
Buried in nonsense paperwork.
Spend months on a case only to have them slapped on the wrist. Rinse and repeat. Work satisfaction guaranteed. Really get to make a difference.
Risk prosecution if you actually try to pursue a criminal.
Shift work.
Have people act differently around you. Nobody wants a garda killing a good time. They’re always listening 😬.
Be at the coalface of some stupid political decision. People want to riot, get your helmet on.
Get stationed in West Cork and spend your days raiding unwell pensioners for cannabis.
Same pay as GO work in a factory.
Be stationed hours from home.
What young person could resist?
A lot of ‘they don’t pay them enough’ comments here
Wasn’t there a link posted recently that showed Gardai were on average the highest monthly earners in the public sector? Above IT even?
It’s very obvious why they are having a retention problem. The once attractive pension scheme is now shocking. You are expected to retire on somewhere in the region of 13 grand per year until you reach the public pension age. Then, you can draw the old age pension alongside your Garda pension. Can you imagine doing all those years of service to draw a similar pension to those who haven’t worked a day in their lives? Also, the majority of recruits are now being sent to Dublin on 30 odd grand. So, forget about having extra money to spend or being close to family or friends. They expect you to go through all the application process with no idea of your placement (like the pay and benefits are so high that you should be grateful). You have to sit in limbo for years not committing to any plans, as you are unaware of your station placement (they do tend to place those with a family near home, if you are “lucky”). After the Garda gods choose you to save the world, you’ll be sitting in an office filling out paperwork while the Garda chief ignores your vote and the city you wanted to protect burns down around you.
It’s OK now! They’re getting jazzy new ball caps! People will be begging to stay
Many areas of the public service in general need an overhaul, but mainly the guards.
Limit the remit of Gsoc and the ICCl.the lesser of 2 evils principle.
Time for a massive Gardai pay rise.
Seriously.
Helen and Drew are doing a great job. If it wasn’t for them, I’d probably be locked up. What with the looting I did during the riots and the fact I rob a bike at least three times a week when me and my mates get board. . It’s a great city for me and and my mates. Cheers Helen and Drew.

Pay them more
Leo went to the Middle East yapping that we’re a rich country. When we canny pay gardai a decent wage or house anyone.
The government chose Harris and McEntee over rank and file. This was inevitable.
Can’t we just have a good old fashioned anarchy?

is it because the redundancy package is so good?
Hire more, pay them more, and arm them.
3 step plan to return safety to our streets.
