Foreign spouses could be told to leave UK under plans to cut legal migration

  1. What a shameful little country we’re becoming, splitting apart families simply to appease people who blame everything on foreigners.

  2. *“I’m not arguing there are no decent people in the Tory party but they’re like sweetcorn in a turd; technically they kept their integrity but they’re still embedded in shit.”*

    ~ Iain M Banks

  3. This party is disgusting. As is Labour, if they don’t vow to reverse these measures.

  4. Would only be told to leave on renewal of visa. However it is suggested that this could be on a case-by-case basis.

“Brits could see their foreign partners told to leave the country the next time their visa comes up for renewal – if their household does not earn £38,700”

2 people working full time over the age of 21 will earn this much, even on minimum wage.

Worth also noting that Official figures from April show the median gross annual earnings for full-time employees in the UK was £34,963.

Net migration is at 770k. We good with this or should this be decreased?

What other suggestions do people have as alternatives?

  5. How does this make any sense??? You will kick out foreign spouses of hardworking immigrants that are positively contributing to the society and economy, whilst at the same time allowing and housing hundreds of thousands of military aged men in hotels all over the country at the cost of the taxpayer. What the actual fk

  6. This is the most bizarre part to me. Foreign members of British citizens don’t rely on public funds and have to prove they already have accommodation and can support themselves. Is this not the exact type of immigrant we want or…? 18k to 38k is a huge jump as well – I wonder what the justification behind the number is.

  7. Absolute madness to have these blanket rules just to look like they’re doing something. Also just another way they’re screwing up health and social care that are struggling to find staff, whilst still failing to improve pay and conditions in those sectors.

  8. Happy to say me and my foreign wife left the UK and are now living in her country with sunshine, good food and welcoming people. It was always the plan to leave at some point but I just got so sick of how the uk is going and the complete lack of hope that the red tories would be any different that I just decided to sell up and leave early.

  9. Next iteration maybe to deport spouses to Rwanda. 2 birds one stone.

    Absolutely shameless Tories.

    GE now.

  10. Yes, let’s make the group of immigrants that no one ever had a problem with leave the country whilst continuing to ignore the *illegal* immigration crisis

  11. It’s a shame I didn’t marry a pure Aryan British woman. Now I’m persona non grata in my own country. Racist pricks.

  12. Tory scum idiots and their die hard voters justifying this.

This doesn’t solve the illegal immigration problem, the only people affected are those hard working people who work jobs that notypical Tory voting British person would take because it’s hard work and “below” them.
