Hi there! I’m doig genealogical research and I have found an ancestor that comes from Hungary. The thing is, that I cannot seem to descipher the name of the town, and maybe one of you people can help me. I’ve attached a picture of the word that I’m hoping to understand (sorry for the potato quality). Keep in mind that it’s a foreing document from de 18th century, so it’s probably misspelled, but I’m hopping to find something similar so I can pinpoint my ancestors origin.

Temesvár.
It’s Fericsíra, from the famous song Dragosta din tei.

I doubt that it is Temesvar. You should post this on r/Translator with a larger portion of the page. People will be able to compare the writing elsewhere on the page and tell you what is written. As you likely know, Hungary lost a huge amount of territory following the Treaty of Trianon. So, many Hungarian place names are no longer on the map.

Do you know what context it is in? Maybe somebody recognize the town about is.
You shall really send a bigger part, to compare the characters with others within the text. I do not think that this is Temesvar, usually the first letters are spelled correctly, but it seems like for me that the word starts with an F.
Based on the calligraphic style (it would be way easier if we could see more of the paper) it is sure the beginning is Fe-, Je-, Te-, or Pe-, and the ending is -ver or -var/vár.
So I checked out all the Hungarian and Romanian town names, including the ceased ones too (Yes, I am not a great sleeper 🤷♀️:D)
Indeed most likely it is “Temesvár” written by someone who maybe only heard it and tried to write it down phonetically. (There is a correction in the spelling also- so maybe the one who wrote the paper tried to mimic the name’s right “sound” for the spanish reader.)
