TIL Shanghai-Frankfurt with a truck is possible, and even profitable.
Costs are not realistic, real costs are way lower for real business.
Otherwise most of the trade would not be profitable, if shipment cost more than the value of products.
All but ships goes through Poland, we have to change that.
All my packages from China to EU seem to take now atleast two months instead of the three weeks before.
The high speed rail being developed between China and Russia (phase 1 is the Moscow-Kazan high-speed railway) will allow freight from China to reach the European border in less than a day.
TIL that shipping by rail from China has a comparable cost as by sea and much faster, which should be part of the equation too.
I understand why they are going for the New Silk Road project then.
Chinese own the biggest port in Greece. They mostly ship there and trucks afterwards.
I checked container rates some time ago and it cost only $2000 to ship a container from China to Europe. Where does 15k come from? Sea transport should be about 100 times cheaper than air.
Yeah this is the kind of trade that just can’t work in a more dangerous world lol
What about pollution?
The prices are off sea is Alot cheaper
One container costs 7500 dollars not 15 thousand
Also if you are a big company you pay even less if you have Alot of containers you want delivered
