  1. Hi guys – i’m currently travelling the world and stayed in Manchester on November.

I did some googling but couldn’t find any clear answers so maybe you can help me out?

My friends who i stayed with said they had seen the blue pillar/post box thing but couldn’t tell me why it was blue and hadn’t even considered it as a something to take note of so maybe it’s too mundane!

I know why you guys do gold boxes. That’s super cute. I was hoping for a simple answer like that I guess.

Does anyone here live near any other blue boxes?

  2. Yo, listen up here’s a story
    About a pillar box
That lives in a blue world
And all day and all night
And everything he sees is just blue
    Like him, inside and outside
    Blue his top
    With a blue little door
    And a blue letter slot
And everything is blue for him
    And himself and everybody around
Cause he ain’t got nobody to listen to
    It’s blue

  6. It’s blue because it’s girlfriend came over and all they did was kiss for 5 hrs straight.

  7. They originally tried to paint it red, but this was a time before colour, and they accidentally painted it blue. It was 15 years before they noticed

  11. It is a relic from the early days of airmail, when post boxes designated for airmail only were painted blue instead of red. Separate post boxes for airmail did not last long and were abolished in 1938.

  12. It’s one of those 3D ones. You’re just looking at it with your left eye. Open the other eye instead and it’ll be red.

  13. It’s not blue with a black base, it’s white and gold actually

  14. It’s a really good post box, it can deliver your letters anywhere in time and space. Feel guilty that you forgot to send your cousin a birthday card a month ago? Why not travel to the TARPIS – Time And Relative Packages In Space!
