Cancer: Woman’s condition incurable after IBS misdiagnosis

  1. The article makes it seem as if the diagnosis is quite rare and we might then think it somewhat logical to have trouble with a diagnosis.

But in my experience even the mundane doesn’t get the appropriate attention.

I also got an IBS diagnosis. Based on pretty much nothing. No tests, nothing. I was just in pain a lot.

I had a massive ovarian cyst that had wrapped itself around my ovary and had killed it. I had to refuse to leave the doctors office until I got referred for an ultrasound.

If I hadn’t god knows what would have happened.

  2. I’ve met Claire a few times and it’s amazing how she is directing her anger at how the system has failed her and is trying to stop others facing the same fate.

Just getting into the system is a nightmare at the moment. My wife has been waiting since the summer for a simple test without which the GP can’t start treatment. The chances of it being serious are minor, but so were Claire’s.
