  1. Well deserved. Even if you don’t like her, if you look at what she achieved this year, how much work she puts into her work, how much influence she has, I couldn’t think of anyone else this year except for the strikers.

Each show spans over 180 minutes, 40-plus songs from at least nine albums; there are 16 costume changes. It’s a lot and every show of the 151 is sold out.

  2. I just saw this posted on r/news and holy fuck did this anger some folk. One asshole said if it was between hamas and Taylor they’d rather hamas win, a bunch of real winners.

Personally I’m just glad I got no horse in the game

  3. I have never seen a music fanbase like this. The only one that comes close in my lifetime is Eminem Stan’s from about 2000-2004

  4. ChatGPT should have been awarded the title. This year has been crazy for AI.

  5. In this current era where fans have more control over the content they consume and artists have more access and reach than ever, Taylor Swift in 2023 might be the closest we ever come to Michael Jackson, The Beatles, or Elvis in terms of pure mania surrounding one artist. The Eras era has truly been something to watch and that fanbase is absolutely rabid.

  6. She deserves it! I’m not a “swiftie” but I am incredibly impressed by this woman and all of her success. Go Taylor!

  7. She joins the ranks of Hitler, Stalin, Trump, Putin, Kissinger, who have all also won the award.

  8. That’s odd. You’d think AI or something about Israel/Hamas.

  9. I think it’s safe to say we’re at the point where Taylor Swift is on the verge of being overexposed. If she isn’t already. It’s like you can’t escape her she’s everywhere.

Crazy to see how big she is now when just 3 or 4 years ago she wasn’t really relevant at all or at least not as big as she is today.

  10. Im convinced she has bought all of this attention. Annoying! Enough!!

  11. Congrats to her marketing team for throwing money at Time magazine to give her this fake title lol. Woo.

  12. I mean she deserved it. What a phenomenon she was this year. For better or worse, she was absolutely everywhere.

  13. I feel like Time only picked her to take the heat for their cowardliness, and she’s just egotistical enough to fall for it.

Like, they could’ve easily picked someone like Christian Smalls or even Fran Drescher for the labor angle if they didn’t want to touch geopolitics but nope, had to be a billionaire climate destroyer.

  14. I must comment that I’m in the midwest and I like country and classic rock and I’m thinking I dont remember ever hearing a single song out of her.

  15. Interesting that Drake or Bad Bunny never received this award in the years they were the biggest artist in the world. Those two are just as big globally (especially Bad Bunny) as Taylor Swift but would never receive this type of recognition.

Also how is Leo Messi not even a candidate? I get that he received TIME’s Athlete of the Year yesterday but does that make him ineligible for this award? Surely he has had a much greater global cultural impact than Taylor the past 12 months.

  16. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s taking an extended “break” after all the dust settles with her own work.

The ol’ Seinfeld, leaving on a high note.

  17. The amount of vitriol in the comments is disturbing. Why do you guys feel the need to say she doesn’t deserve it? Maybe check yourself and your misogyny at the door. Y’all are so pressed over a meaningless title. It’s ironic cuz being overexposed and “cancelled” before led to her becoming more popular than ever in the end. People just can’t stand a woman being honored for her influence. I’m sorry, the comment saying that bad bunny or drake should have gotten POTY in their most popular eras if SHE is getting it now solidifies this and is honestly hilarious.
