  1. >The Danish transport union announces sympathy measures with the strike in Sweden. The Norwegian and Finnish unions are also expected to give notice shortly, Dagens Arbete learns.

    >After a six-week strike at the electric car giant Tesla’s workshops in Sweden, the conflict is now spreading to the other Nordic countries. On Tuesday morning, Denmark’s largest trade union 3F posted a notice against Tesla in sympathy with the Swedish strike. If Tesla’s Swedish subsidiary TM Sweden does not sign a collective agreement with IF Metall, the Danish union threatens to stop all transport within Denmark of new Tesla cars to the Swedish market, both via ports and trucks. The measures will take effect in two weeks.

    >- IF Metall and the Swedish workers are currently fighting an incredibly important battle. When they ask for our support, we naturally back up. With the sympathy conflict, we now step in and put additional pressure on Tesla. We naturally hope that they will come to the negotiating table as soon as possible and sign an agreement, says Jan Villadsen, chairman of the trade union 3F Transport.

    >Dagens Arbete learns that the transport unions in Norway and Finland will also post a similar notice of sympathy shortly.

    >- You could say it’s underway. Tomorrow maybe, it’s in the near future anyway, says a source with insight into the talks being held between the various Nordic trade unions.

    >Details of the alerts are still being worked out, according to the source. Three weeks ago, the Nordic Transport Workers’ Federation, NTF, expressed its full support for IF Metall in the conflict with Tesla.

    >The organization represents 340,000 Nordic transport workers from 40 different unions. A similar statement was also made by the European Transport Workers’ Federation, ETF, which represents 4 million transport workers, in early December.

    >”The conflict with Tesla is not only a fight about the working conditions for Swedish workers, but also a decisive fight for the right to collective agreements in general,” wrote the federation.

    >Jan Villadsen, chairman of Danish 3F Transport, believes that Tesla’s owner Elon Musk should adapt to how the labor market is structured in the Nordics.

    >- Even if you are one of the richest people in the world, you can’t just make your own rules. We have a number of agreements on the labor market in the Nordics and you have to follow them if you want to do business here, he says.

    >After the Swedish Transport Workers’ Union introduced its blockade against Tesla cars in Swedish ports, they have received reports that cars are instead unloaded in Nordic ports and then transported by truck to Sweden.

    >- We know that Tesla has unloaded cars in the Danish port of Esbjerg. And we have heard that Tesla can consider bringing in cars via Norway – and hypothetically also via Finland, says Transport chairman Tommy Wreeth to the newspaper Transportarbetaren.

    >Dagens Arbete has also reported on how Danish-registered trucks delivered new Tesla cars to, among other things, Tesla’s service center in Huddinge.

  2. Danish unions is not currently planning strikes. They will continue to pursue a negotiation and dialoque to obtain a collective agrement.

If the far larger German part of the tesla cooperation goes bananas, then it will be an entirely different scenario

  3. At least it will stop that crap on European streets, walking bombs

  4. Well, even Ford had to accept there are unions in Scandinavia.

  5. That’s just so hilarious. I really wonder when will Musk finally learn; will the strike need to spread to the entire continent first?

  6. Tesla is the biggest car supplier in Norway, the fifth biggest in sweden and finland and the 7th biggest in denmark.

Imagine risking market leadership in four countries just so you don’t have to pay fair wages at one plant.

  7. As a non European sometimes I just don’t get you guys. You have no problems with pay or anything but you are striking just on principle of collective bargaining.

This is truly the Nordic Version of the French pastime of rioting.

edit: this comment section had educated me. American Unions suck but the Nordic Unions sound Amazing.
