Will Austria get rid of their Russian overlords (most of their PM/politicians were/are on Russian payroll)? Will Hungary stop sucking Russian dick? My guess for both is, no. So, no for Romania Schengen either.
Regardless, schengen looks broken. At this point most of us are waiting for our gov to fight back these Russian puppets.

Next year are big elections in romania, government and president and Schengen will be a sore spot for a lot of Romanians. I will vote for whoever has this as a priority in their agenda, many people will do so as well.
Hoping for a much more aggressive Romania regarding this issue in the future, if we have to block all Austria EU interests then so be it

Bulgaria and Romania do not let even a fraction of the immigrants Italy and othe coastal countries do.
In fact , a lot do not prefer that route as they travel mostly packed in huge trucks and they die there… Especially in the summer.

Schengen treaty is a technical thing. There are specific standards that have to be met. It’s either Yes or No, there’s no in-between Maybe. Imo, the JAI vote is really just a formality, shouldn’t even be necessary. If the standards are met, countries should be in. Both my country Romania and Bulgaria are meeting the standards, leaving an open space for ‘Why, Austria?’. Immigration is not part of these standards, and not a real issue for either of us. The only winner here, out of this instabile situation is Russia. They know, we know, Muie Rusia!

I think Austria has elections in 2024 same as Romania. There is a big electoral year for us (Romanians). However, one party (pro russia) that is doing a lot of false news, influencing elders etc. wants us out of EU. The other 2 big parties that ruled untill now are slowly losing grounds. We kind of have 2 parties that seem ambitious and hopefully young people will go out and vote since most of the years we had 30-40% vote mass

Most probably will join once the war in Ukraine will end and hopefully Russia will be defeated. Until then Austria will play Putin’s games.
