In my old flat, I survived just fine with floor lamps, and the few ceiling lights that were taken over form the previous tenant. In my new flat, I am starting entirely from scratch…and I am completely unsure what to do – even as a temporary measure until I settle on the permanent lighting solution.
The first picture is how all the ceilings are wired. The grey plastic thing has a bit of a spring, which I don’t understand because it just opens and closes. I don’t see how it this would connect to anything.
The second picture are some “Renovierungsbeleuctungen” that I thought would be easy enough to connect to these wires, but I guess I would have to remove the spring connector on the ceiling wires, and then screw in the matching wires through the connector?
I know that electricity is a dangerous thing, and shouldn’t be messed with. But such a connection should be manageable by anyone with basic skills. I don’t think I should need to hire a handyman for this. But this kind of wiring is completely foreign to me, and I don’t even know how to search for anything to get a proper tutorial…. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Remove the lüsterklemme from picture 2, and Connect the wires to the stuff from picture 1. Blue to blue and Brown to brown
As an electrician, I’d remove the screw terminals from the lamp and use the already installed WAGO terminals. That’s how I usually clamp such renovation lamps, using [WAGO 224](https://www.wago.com/de/installationsklemmen/leuchtenklemme/p/224-101) terminals. Just press them down and insert the wire.
First pic, squeeze the connector closed, push in the cable with matching colour, and release
Second pic, you need a small flathead screwdriver to unscrew the screw. Push in the cable with matching colour, then tighten the screw
Funnily enough, I was an electrician for 8 years and am now and elec engineer (from Ireland) but haven’t see the connectors in the first pic before
Unscrew the the wires out from the connectors of the second picture. Make sure the breakers are all switched off then you can put the wires into the connectors of the first image and press down the grey clip, just match the wire colours.
Just match the colours. That’s it.
Just match the colours. That’s it.
Basic EU wiring – Brown = Live, Blue = Neutral, Green/Yellow = Ground/Earth.
The lamp (picture 2) isn’t grounded, so you only have a brown and a blue wire.
