I might get some downvotes for this, but most everyone working towards a common goal usually makes things much easier. Once upon a time, the U.S. sent people to the moon. How did that come about? Why did so many people work together? How did the US lose that initiative? Thanks to the civil rights movement we should have an even greater percent of the population able to help than in the 60s.
If the answer is ‘Cold War’ and a common adversary, then why is this time different? If the answer is government support of science and education, why did that fade away? If the answer is affordable housing, why did that fade away? If the answer is corporate interests in government, how does that get undone? The science is clear. Why does science no longer seem to carry much weight? The tools are available, why are they ignored?
