So I recently made this and thought I’d share it as I think it’s a rather cool “what if”. I’m fully aware we don’t have anywhere near the money for this but I’m a transport nerd 😂

The routes and station locations are based on a fairly nerdy analysis of the populations of towns and cities in the Republic, generally stopping in settlements of 5k+ inhabitants and avoiding any border crossings where possible.

It’s assumed that the original plan for the Nicosia tram had already been built (another wild fantasy) so Nicosia only needs one big station rather than many small ones like the other cities. I’ve also included stations to serve the airports and seaports. I would envision larnaca having a people mover over the carpark to connect, and Paphos a shuttle bus. The Limassol port would have as close to a direct connection as possible.

Some stations are parkway stations which would be between a few larger settlements that are either too close together or too small to justify their own stations so they’d be well connected by road to the surrounding areas. Ayia napa’s large station being operated as a large station would be seasonal along with seasonal additional services to serve the many tourists and help to keep services for locals at acceptable crowding levels.
