    If the media actually reported every individual rape that happens in this country it would make up the majority of news stories that are published and yet if you were only to read publications like the Daily Mail you’d think that the only people guilty of rape are foreign people.

    That’s the power of selective reporting, over a long enough period of time it can create and compound prejudices in the minds of the reader.

  7. Perhaps with proper immigration policies in place that process asylum seekers and migrants properly instead of throwing them in hotels like this, it would help.

    I also hope this guy ends up on a plane immediately after his jail sentence. Regardless of the why, if you present a danger to the public by committing a violent or sexual crime like that, you should be removed.

  11. Why is an Egyptian seeking asylum? I’ve read about economic issues in Egypt making the cost of living higher but that’s a reason for economic migration, not claiming asylum

  17. As long as we also make sure to stress it when every UK native rapes a women is a UK native, him not being here doesn’t stop him raping women. Just shifts it to a women in another country so I don’t see why him being an asylum seeker is relevant unless its to fuel hatred against an already marginalised group

  18. Jesus is this common? I see headlines like this more and more but mostly on reddit. Worried to move to Europe with my partner who is very sensitive about sexual assault not that assault doesn’t happen but it being done by immigrants is almost unheard of its usually people known to the victim like family or friends but this changes things unless these are one off rage bait headlines im not sure what the statistics are on migrants raping European women is? I worry for the migrant women traveling too. Their story isn’t being heard on the headlines.
