My partner’s train was ever so slightly delayed…

  1. I’m on that train and to say it’s been a nightmare is an understatement….. And we’ve stopped again due to another tree that’s fallen on the lines

  2. Just in case people regularly travel and arent aware, the train companies have an obligation to get you to your destination. If your route is cancelled and there aren’t any later trains for you to take, you can request a taxi from the train company to sort you out.

Due to unexpected train cancellations a few months back, I ended up getting EMR to book me a taxi (which they pay for before the cab ever reaches you) to get from Belper to Hykeham at about 8pm on a Sunday. About an hour’s drive or so.

They typically don’t advertise this as they tend to put replacement buses on when these things happen, but you absolutely will not (and should not) be left stranded.

The service speakers have a direct line to the control room support staff, but the calls are limited to something like 4 minutes before they automatically disconnect which is very frustrating. My advice is to hammer their twitter DMs with information (in my case, it was EMR) and request a taxi, and do not budge.

  3. It has been an absolute joke tonight. They’ve known for a while that there were going to be named storms but decided against doing a do not travel warning.

  4. Wait, is this line fucked again? I was on it last week when the lines went down and I was stuck at Peterborough for 3 hours.
